  • like the video :)

  • This is the most fantastic adventure. Alan Block A

  • wow

  • When are you going to stop traveling? When she is a teenager ? So she can be involved in normal things such as school, activities "sports, clubs, dance ", consistent friends, etc. So she can start putting her life together, and get ready for college and a career, connections and relationships? She can't do that with a life like this! Otherwise great video, and experiences. It looks like it's alot of fun!

  • @kardancer1 We have no plans to stop slow traveling at this point. Read our blog for more information like one we did on global student. She DOES do normal things, has consistent friends, does sports, dance etc ( read our post " can globetrotting kids have friends). Her life IS together and we find it a FAR superior life than if we stayed at home.

Read Maya's Frost book Gobal Student, she had 4 teens that graduated from college by 20 thanks to travel and NO DEBT.

  • @kardancer1 When we left, we did think about stopping when she was a teen because we had many of the misconceptions that you have. NOW that we have experienced going on 5 years of this, we see the profound advantages for a global citizen of the 21st century and think this is the best possible education. She is already a very fluent trilingual/triliterate ( Mandarin/Spanish/Eng) who also speaks some of many languages so can go to Univ anywhere. It's am amazing life!

  • I feel like what your doing is crazy, but cool at the same time. I just hope your daughter is able to be social with kids her own age, she may meet kids in other places. But im sure it's hard for her to learn consistent socail skills and cultural skills if she not with the same kids or consistent group of friends. But other then that it looks like your really having fun.

  • @kardancer1 We work around that by traveling for 6 or 7 months and then spending the winters in a home and going to the same school with the same kids to immerse in a language. I've written a lot about how well this has worked for her and us. We spent the first 4 years wintering in a darling little village in Spain and now we have just spent the first winter in Penang where she immerses in her Mandarin. Loves the school kids/her friends at both places! We're visiting friends in Spain now again!

  • nice places you go to! im so jealous :(

what about your daughter's education ?

  • It would be very interesting to see a video of what it is like when you move from place to place. What you have said about the way you travel with your RV seems vague to me. Um, like a "What we do when we move" video?

  • @Kittyjoy The best thing to do is read our soultravelers3 website where we have TONS of details & pictures about 4 years of non-stop slow travel. Check out the FAQ's page links. Hard to give all the info in 1 short video. I'm writing a book & some e-books so that will help too.

  • what an amazing way to live....you seem very happy....your daughter is very lucky....good luck and God bless...

  • thx

    karlalana!

  • this sounds wonderful! wish I could do this :)

  • thx luckynumber1111! You can...or at least your own version of it. Seems to be a trend that more & more are doing including single moms & even big families!

  • what an amazing family, and what a blessed little girl you have!! (if you want to adopt a 30 year old i would do all my chores!!) best of luck yo the three of you in your journeys :)

  • ha! Funny how many pleas 4 adoption we get! thx

    ethaera!

  • It's very very cool what you guys are doing!! You have a beautiful girl! When you ever visit Hollans, please visit my place, I look forward to play Mozart with her and show you the beautiful woods of Ter Apel.

  • Thanks jacolineboelhouwers for your kind words and invitation!!

  • Wow Thanks for all the lovely photos!!

Im so happy for your family that you get to live out your dream!!

Its so great that there is so much for your daughter to do!!

I wish you all a lifetime of happiness!!

    Well Bye Soultravelers3!!

    Sally

    xxx

  • Thanks so much juicyluvinsinger for your kind words & wishes!

  • Wow! Really cool. What a lucky little girl to have that kind of experience so young!

Strangely...other than homeschooling...I wonder what you DO, however. Seems like you would spend most of your time acclimating to new surroundings constantly. I'll have a look at your site.

  • The main thing we do is enjoy each other and the freedom of our life while seeing incredible beauty everywhere we go and meeting fantastic people. It is a lot like being on a permanent family vacation! Not much not to love about it and I wish everyone could do it and I wish we would have done this sooner.

Mostly we take our home with us, so there is usually no packing and unpacking.

One of the great things about family travel is doing ordinary things in extraordinary places.

  • It is funny @GetMeThere1 but we do slow travel, so have never really had to deal with much acclimating to any area. I think the RV travel helps with that, although sometimes we do hotels & hostels, trains & boats & never had that problem either.

We love how it keeps us in the "now" & more alive!

Bryson "the greatest reward & luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.

  • Loving the random piano bits

  • I bookmarked your website quite awhile ago and absolutely love what you and your family are doing! It's my dream to take my family (myself, hubby and son) across the pond and live like you do. Wish I could talk my husband into it, but he wants to wait for retirement which is almost 10 years away. I want to sell everything and go right now, this minute! Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with all of us! :)

  • Thanks so much for your kind words

vintagegarden! You know if you homeschool, you could do a winter in Spain just to try it out? There are many ways to do this. Wishing you happy travels on how ever you decide!

  • I'm sooo doing something like this when i have kids. Lol im only 13 right now, but i've always loved travel and i have a goal to go to every country before i die (:

  • You go for it ericanjess & don't ever forget your dreams!

  • What an exciting life!

  • Thanks @pumpkin2244 It really is the best way to live & we only wish we did this sooner.

  • I wish my parents raised me the way you guys raised your child. I'm 18 now and have never left North America, never experienced any of the things your child will. I was interested in piano when I was young but was never able to learn. I will someday, you guys are inspiring. :) When I'm old enough I'm going to do exactly what you guys have done.

  • Aw, that is sweet CopperGau! I am so sorry that you did not get to travel or play piano. The good news is now you can as an adult! My husband always wanted to play the piano too & now he is finally learning right along with Mozart! He also did not do much traveling until he was an adult .Hang onto your dreams and follow your heart! If there is a will, there is always a way!

  • oh my god I love the way you do this

I'd like to travel as much as you do!!!!

I know someday I'll make my dream come true

but for now all I can do is watch your videos and

imagine I'm there all those beautiful places

    you rock!

  • Thanks maddostar for your kind words! Yes you will...so hold onto your dreams!

  • fantastico. hablo ingles y español. me encanta su forma de vivir. viajar es una de las cosas mas emocionantes que puede haber. pero, todo viaje cuesta. como pagan todos sus viajes? son ustedes tremendamente ricos?

  • My English is much stronger than my Spanish, so I wil answer you adefesioslp in that since you also speak Ingles! Thanks and no we are not rich, just an ordinary family. We live large on just 25K a year total costs which is much, much cheaper than we can live at home. The key is slow travel, living like a native and few long flights.

  • Truly inspirational x

  • Thanks ElectricFaerieDust!

  • Hi,good,good

  • Thank you diegoreginato!

  • I love what you do!

My kids are 9 and 12 and we have lived in three continents already. They a four-lingual!

Definitely seeing the world is something that pays off it self.

    Keep the lovely-hard-work up!

  • Thanks so much JMdeBadillo! It really is the best education, isn't it? What a lovely way to add a language! ;)

  • oh my gosh, it's my dear dear friend!!! love what you're doing! impressive! the technology! we will be following you and supporting you. love from both of us to all 3 of you! K&J

  • Yes, indeed-across the miles & the years! So fun to see you here! Thanks so much for your kind words & support! Blessings of love, laughter & light to you and yours, my dear, dear sweet angel!

  • you have such an amazeing family...

  • Thank you so much friendlygirlval!

  • How many countries have you visited?

  • So far on this trip we have been to 29 countries & 4 continents! ( I have been to many more over the years before we left on this journey).

We will probably add 8 more this year!

  • I just found your site and I will continue to follow your blog! I'm only 17 but I hope to one day travel the world with my family being digital nomads! (most people, especially my parents, think I'm crazy, though!)

What better way to raise a family than to travel and see the amazing, beautiful earth that God made and see so many people.

  • Thx @iloveteaandcoffee! You go for it as we are living proof that it is a fantastic way to live.

  • Omg you are RICH lol I've only been to Switzerland mexico portugal france and thats about all

  • Those are lots of places. No we are not rich & we actually live large on very little. We have found that we can travel the world for MUCH less than living at home!

  • oh wow!! i envy you....every picture looks so beautiful, like a [postcard. I wish I could do what you are doing...but there is no way my husband would go for it.

*sigh* you guys are living life the way it was meant to be lived...enjoying every moment and not being pulled into the 9-5 routine that most people do..

  • Thanks jeddawiya for your kind words! You know, I really do feel like this is how life was meant to be lived. I only wish we would have done it sooner.

  • You insiper me so much omg!!! like wow when i grow up i want to get done with college get a Loving husband and Travel!!! omg you inspire meee to live

  • Thanks Darkdays666gurl! That's a good dream to have! Go for it!

  • I hope so too! We will let you know when we are heading that way! Keep in touch!

  • Now that's the way to travel! I love the part where you talk about going food shopping and living like the locals. Travel broken down into simpler components. Love it!

  • Thanks 1artistheart! I think one of the greatest joys of family extended travel is just doing ordinary things in extraordinary places!

  • Thankyou for sharing your journies with us. I'm glad that you and your family had the courage to dream big and to act on those dreams. When I watch your videos I am inspired, and I'm sure your experiences are encouraging others to explore their dreams as well. (You do a great job on putting the videos together as well :)

  • Thank you so much raindacerjen for your kind words! We are really pleased and honored that our trip inspires others! Glad you like our videos! Carpe Diem! ;)

  • Hey violetdreams88! We do really look forward to our time down under, but we travel slow, so after we do more of Europe this year, we plan to go to Africa and then South America before heading your way. The only thing that might change that is the economic conditions, as the world is in flux now, so we are watching that and currencies as we plan our next continent. We WILL get there though, no doubt at all as it is high on our list!

  • Funny too violetdreams88, but we do get a bit of the Oz & Kiwi spirit as we find them lots on our travels in Europe! That is especially fun for Mozart if we are in countries where neither of her main languages are spoken. ;)

  • Does she have any real friends? Not the kind you meet on holiday, but the kind you grow up with?

  • Yes, of course she does nicolasnicolasornico! She is still friends with the kids she went to school with in Ca ( we were there this fall & she keeps in touch via free webcam calls) and we have been in Spain for 3 winters. She has gone to 1st,2nd, 3rd grade with same kids here at the local school for 5 months each winter. She has sleep overs & play dates & best friends just like any kid. Plus she makes friends as we travel that she stays in touch with!

  • Also nicolasnicolasornico , not everyone grows up in one small town and never moves. I moved around a lot as a child and feel like it was absolutely the very best way to grow up. I would have been bored in one small town with the same people year in and out. I think it has made me much more flexible and adaptable which I think are very important assets, perhaps even more so for 21st century global citizens in an ever shrinking & changing world!

We also think family bonding is key!

  • Nothing brings history and the world alive like experiencing it. She will harbor a powerful curiosity and unique connection to history/the world at large for the rest of her life. An incredible gift.

  • Thanks Glamdering Alex! And who should know better than you ...one who grew up with a similar travel background! She is too young yet to fully understand the gift, seems like normal life to her, but in time I think she will. She already hears how lucky she is from all the travelers we meet on the way. She does love the lifestyle and is a natural explorer who loves discovering new places!

  • How absolutely awesome!

  • Thanks bedebooporiginal! So glad that you approve! ;)

  • A rich life indeed... What an incredibly beautiful life you lead. All my very best to the three of you.

  • Thank you safeharbor7 for your kind words and best wishes! We really appreciate hearing that!

  • Jeanne every time I catch one of your tweets I'm led somewhere beautiful. You know it already of course, but Mozart is an incredibly beauiful being. You are all such inspiration.

    Warmest wishes,

    Love and light

  • please adopt me!

How do you know which areas are safe to stay and live at? When I travel, my mom has unfortunately infused an overload of cautiousness in me-which is a pro and con in itself-I hate worrying when I'm traveling!!!

Is there a website that you use for great travel spots? Also, how do you find out about cheap hotels or accomadations?

I will be traveling this summer to Aus/NZ and Malaysia, has your family traveled to that side of the world much? Do you plan on doing so?

  • Love it, chiccaboom!

Most places are really just as safe as home, you do just need to be aware like you are at home. Most of it is common sense.

We have a young child, so would not travel in dangerous places.

Check out my post "how to do extended trave" just google it on our site.

We do plan to go to Aus/Nz area, but it won't be for a while because Africa and South America come first.

    Have a great trip!

  • Applause!

I have been homeschooling for 18 years.

  • Thanks huneyhunters! Cool!

  • Hello to my favorite world travelers. So, glad to see & hear from you. Can't wait to see where you go next. Best wishes & safe travels, Lisa from Chicago

  • Thanks tuppulla So glad to hear from you. We just got back from some birthday celebrations in Granada & snow skiing on a hot day! Check out our pictures on Twitpic if you want to see the latest. Have a great week!

  • the life that you live seems awesome. i love travelling and culture! i've only been to a couple of countries. I also have a question, are you planning on to keep living this life style when Mozart (she's adorable) becomes a teenager? because i'm 17 and what wouldn't give to live like you guys do but also i find it important grow friendships and just chill with friends sometimes. if i'm being too nosy i'm really srry but i just find your life style so amazingly beautiful and interesting.

  • Thanks muzikaluv! Good question! We are playing it by ear & as long as it works for all 3 of us, we will continue, & if & when we are ready, we will settle down. We do take Mozart's social needs very much into consideration. Many of her relationships are online, but we also are spending our 3rd winter in a small village, so she has lots of old friends here. She still has friends in Ca.She meets friends as we travel too. We will see how it works in the teen years. Hard to say now.

  • She already likes to chill out with friends. One of the great things about slow travel is she gets to do that. She has lots of sleep overs, play dates, parties & such while we are in Spain. She even makes friends in every campsite to hang out with. We leave plenty of time for free play with friends & chilling out as we think it is important!

  • wow, it's must be awesome to have friends all over the world. i think it's really kool waht your doing, she's experiecing so many different cultures at such a young age......i grew up and live in Toronto, Canada which is the most multicultural city but it doesn't compare anything to what she's expiriencing. i'm sure when she grows up she's going to be very thankful to you guys. best of luck to you three.=)

  • Thank you muzikaluv! It is really fun and I think people treat travelers extra nice or at least we have been treated so very well by everyone! Sometimes even total strangers have led us by their cars when they see us lost!

My grandfather was from Windsor, Canada which is near Toronto, so I have fond memories of there. My great grandfather use to take us for walks all around there.

Best of luck to you too!

  • Again beautiful video soutravelers~! The pictures you get of mozart are always so artistic and beautifully set up. I wish you all the best and that this year is even more exciting!

Santorini IS beautiful I wish I had been able to stay there for a month =P i visited it for a day on a cruise. I Hope to see more videos/pictures soon. =)

P.S What camera do you use to take your pictures, the resoultion and colour seems so beautiful and alive!

  • Thanks Tabachoy89! Santorini is very special ( except in July & Aug when it is too overpacked).

We use all Canon cameras. See our post "new Cameras" on our soultravelers3 website for all the details, too limited space here.

  • wonderful! I love the music you set the video to. I greatly hope to be able to do something similar to this someday.

  • Thanks zibster321! It always starts with the dream! You go for it!

  • WONDERFUL! You know that I've been following you guys for what seems like a long time now, but seeing a slide show of all of these wonderful places you've been one after the next was amazing!

  • Aww thanks novafan1985! You know it is fun for us to see them too..like a trip down memory lane, eh? Our pictures tell the story well & we still have just a TON that we have not downloaded yet. We did not realize how many we would take & that dealing with them was part of our journey! LOL!

  • Hi again!

I think your lifestyle is amazing and through your testimony and experience, there will be many people doing the same, in the future.

I'm going to leave my country with my husband next year (so, please wish me luck) .... and, who knows? maybe someday I'll upload my own videos just like yours :)

I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST !!

  • Hi mahashakty! We are evangelists for this lifestyle and thrilled that we inspire other people do to do their own!

I wish you loads of luck! I know you will have a wonderful time & I look forward to watching your videos!

  • Fantastic! Your life is such an adventure!! I hope you intend to write a book about it eventually!

  • Thanks Movebyleap! Yes, we are actually writing a few books. Finding time for such things is the challenge, so it seems to be slow going. We could stop now & have enough content for decades, but still want to see more!
