Great videos, keep it up! I was watching one of your videos when I decided to checked whether or not anyone was broadcasting OWD's ATC frequencies on liveatc.net, turns out there is a broadcast of OWD's tower and ground frequencies. I turn it on and what is the first aircraft that I hear? Non other than Cirrus 168SR! Didn't sound like your voice though but it was a pretty funny coincidence nevertheless.
@ohcumgache2012 That's a great story. It's cool to hear tail numbers of planes you know well. That plane does fly a lot, so you will often hear it and the other one I use, the Cessna 13151 on the frequency. I helped set-up that Live ATC feed to I could monitor the channel remotely. I love Live ATC.
@rdfelty. This is hands down the BEST cross country I've seen!! I'm hoping and praying to go to flight school one day. This video was extremely motivating for me. Thank you!
@Dachwh Thanks for the nice comments and for watching. There are a few other cross country videos on my page in case you haven't found them. All the best to you.
@budandbean1 Thanks for watching. I don't really like the fast forward stuff. I have done a few where I remove some time using a wipe, but never fast forward. Just real as you say.
Awesome flying! One thing that i would consider doing is stop using your GPS as a checklist. In case of emergency it's good to have a checklist that cant fail on you like technology can.
On the ground, do you steer with the rudder pedals or the brakes? I did a starter flight in a SR20 and i was told to steer with brake ( by witch i sucked at, Then after a little of getting used to it i was a little better )
@S9297AircraftReviews Honestly not sure. At some point a few months ago, I got a message saying my account had been enabled for clips longer than 15 min. There must be some algorithm combining consistent uploading, views, etc. and I passed it at some point. But I don't really know what that is. You could write them and ask. Thanks for watching.
I really enjoy your videos, Rick. Quick question: what is tower saying 34:35-34:40 "Cirrus 8SR, in sight on the base, [what's this?], runway 16, wind 160..."
@bhobful Great question. Honestly there were things said by that controller in Portsmouth that were not traditional for me. I figured I would respond as I sort of normally do and let him correct me or ask me again. Even listening to this later, I wasn't clear on it. I'm still not clear.
@bhobful Since the runway is so long, he was "cleared to land long" which allows you to fly down the runway instead of a long taxi if you are going somewhere on the far end of field. Planes (and pilots) would rather fly than taxi :) Great video, as usual Rick...thanks!
Another great video Rick. I just startd my lessons on Monday hopefully I can start to record and post them. Just want to say thanks for all of the videos, it has really helped me understand the art of flying. You do make it look easy. Thanks. Bryan.
@Gibson2471 Love your icon by the way! On this flight I actually didn't use the autopilot at all, mostly because I hadn't been in the plane in a while. That would mean I would have had to remember how to engage it and for what parameters. Also because I was flying around Boston, I was never sure what altitude I'd be allowed to be at. If I had used it you would have heard the audible autopilot disengage sound.

@rdfelty I believe he said, "check wheels down" but I don't know how that would apply to a Cirrus.
