Heading this way on Friday (30 years since last there) and can't wait. As I remember it's not too much fun for the 'captain' of the boat as there's no railing on one side! Scareeeee!
There are tour boats, based at Trevor and Llangollen, which will take you across, with refreshments provided.
The Thomas Telford gives a two-hour trip from Llangollen Wharf to Froncysyllte or the other way, with a bus connection for the outward or return journey.
At Llan there are also horse-drawn boats for a tranquil cruise on the upper reach of the canal, where no motor boats are allowed. Please see my video of Tog pulling the James Brindley.
Just got back from walking across (and under) this amazing feat of engineering. Being Autumn, the colours of the trees were absolutely stunning. Beautiful.

Ah, happy memories. I first crossed it in February 1982 as a 17 year old. As I was stood in the middle, clinging onto the railings for dear life, a pair of airforce jets raced down the valley towards me doing low level flying exercises..... they were below the level of the valley sides, which are only about 350-400ft on the Trevor side and I was 120ft above the river on the towpath - now that was scarey!!!
Did it in Nov last and yes i also know every footprint in the towpath. not so sure what's on the other side though. SS on this occassion but think I might be ok if i get the opportunity to do it again!
i am so scared of hights but i can walk over this bridge no problems so i took my dad for a walk over(who is fearless)he clung on to that railing for dear life it was so funny almosst embaracing lol
