You mean where he presses the strings up with his fingers? Its a bend. Rapidly applying tension and releasing them would make it a vibrato.

Dude, don't worry about Pod. Keep doing the good sound you do with the V-amp. I've been using for a Week a Floor Pod, I've had a GT-8 that was Stolen. And now, I'm going back to V-amp, and I doubt I think about moving away from it. It's a great tool.
