I had never heard a rendition of this aria sung in such an amazing manner. I can´t believe the beautiful leggatissimi and pianissimi. I have to be honest I was never fan of Ms. Richiarelli but this sole interpretation is enough to admit hhow I have wasted time not knowing thise beautiful lady and her beautiful art.

Karajan made her sing Aïda and other destructive roles much too heavy for this typically soprano lirico leggiero , one of the most beautiful voice of the period. She broke her vocal instrument in a very short time. A large vibrato appeared on the top C, then the B, and few to few the complete high register; the intonation became too low. What a pity. So, she added her name to a long list of early destroyed voices: Sass, Suliotis...and after her, Studer. It's a kind of disaster.

Diciamo che sulla ricciarelli se ne dicono tante!Comunque per un periodo ha cantato piuttosto bene con una discreta tecnica ma ha sempre avuto una vocina ecco...però se usata bene e con un grande studio poteva essere una davvero angelica..a mio avviso!

I vostri commenti sono cattivissimi, che uno non si aspetterebbe da amanti della musica. La Ricciarelli canta con molta arte quest aria, fa la propria interpretazione basata sui pianissimi che erano la sua specialitá. Esistono altre bellissime Wallys, come la Dimitrova (eccezionale), la Callas, la Flemming o la Caballe... ognuna fa la propria interprezione, tutte splendide e non si DEVE paragonare.

Non concordo! La Ricciarelli era stupenda, aveva un filato unico ! Non dite che non aveva voce! E' assai più difficile cantare piano, specie le note acute , e lei ci riusciva benissimo con un timbro affascinante!!! Peccato che bisogna parlare al passato, però!!!!!! Concordo... La Ricciarelli al massimo potrebbe andare a cantare come fenomeno a qualche sagra di paese o in chiesa perché non è minimamente paragonabile ad un soprano fatto e finito. Adesso senza citare la divina ma ponendola in paragone ad una Damrau, Caballé (ai tempi d'oro) o ad una Gheorghiu viene spontaneo capire che la Ricciarelli non ha dote per cantare arie che hanno bisogno di polmoni e soprattutto di voce. Tra le italiane la peggiore di sempre!

Sn cresciuta in una famiglia di soprani bartioni e tenori e lei al massimo puo` canticchiare nei cori di chiesa.I commenti in Inglese mi fanno tristezza perke` mi rendo conte che oltre all`Italia gli altri paesi sono ignoranti in materia basta che sentono un nome Italiano ed e` eccellente a prescindere un po` come il mangiare...Speriamo che emarganpo delle vere voci nel prossimo futuro.

Durch konsequentes Piano spart sie sehr viel Atemkondition, damit der letzte hohe Ton noch gut kommt. So vorbildlich und klug gesungen schafft sie diese schwierige Arie sehr gut. Super!!!!

Ich stimme zu, obwohl das Urteil mir zu technisch klingt. Für meinen Geschmack entspricht das Verhaltene sehr gut dem musikalischen und textlichen Charakter der Arie. Das habe ich in dieser Weise, als übergreifendes Formelement, noch nie gehört. Aber schon bei der Callas waren mir die stark verhaltenen Passagen am eindrucksvollsten erschienen. Und mit "verhalten" meine ich mehr als nur "piano", auch die gedeckte Färbung.

Since I wrote the comment about her voice which, I had read in two places, I listened to some of her stuff from later on. I think there was a change in her voice but it wasn't as terrible as some made out. Her Liu in 1991 in Turandot was fine. She did wear out her voice early by pushing her voice in roles that weren't suited to her. When she finally settled on Bel Canto it was too late and the damage was done. But I don't care, I just love her.

I like this version of Ebben by Ricciarelli. One of the things I like about You Tube is that you can find multiple versions of the same piece by different artists and compare them. One of the saddest things is that she lost her voice. I just listened to her in La Boheme when she was just starting and she was wonderful.

I heard her sing once in 88 and she sang this aria it must have been one of her favorites and it was a beautifaul voice and a big voice which this doesnt convey.I don't think the beaty of the voice realy transfered well to the recording studio
