@YoYoSmileALot yep,不用and 不必means the same literally, but we always use 不用 more often than use 不必 in daily life, the second expression is sort of formal:)
Who said "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"? Yangyang is teaching this old dog a new language...Yangyang, I am 65 and never thought I could learn a new language but your videos are better than "Rosetta Stone". You remind me of my 1st year Latin teacher. He taught is such a way as to make learning a new language easy and enjoyable...but Yangyang I think you are better than he and you are most definitely the prettiest teacher I ever had.

I read in a textbook that you could also say 不必 instead of 不用. I was just wondering if this is true? Is one form more formal than the other?
Thanks!
(And by the way you have an amazing English accent!)

why is 用's meaning not "have to" if 不用 means don't have to.?
firedudekpop 10 months ago
@firedudekpop 用 is "to need". she mentioned that 不用 is literally "don't need to"....

(Regarding 0:56) Could you also say, "Wo ming tian bu yong gongzuo." I learned "gongzuo" in one of my books.
Your videos are really good. I came across them a couple of weeks ago - the one about syntax was quite helpful.
Take care!

Yes, you can say that. shang4 ban1 is just a lot more colloquial.
