Russia's military budget for 2010 was 39.4 billion dollars, a 10% reduction over the previous year due to the financial disaster in Russia. That puts it way below France in annual military spending. Not counting the 20% of russian funds lost to corruption, of course.
Currend GDP per capita of Russia is $14,000 = third world.

They went in under UN mandate to repel the North korean invasion and restore South korea, which they did. Most of it's equipment does not work, the fleet decreased it's number of everydays missions from 60 to 2 since the fall of communism.
Army is highly demoralised. Their morale is LOW. Plus their army is spreaded on a huge area.
They still have the nukes (most of them can still be fired) but where they want to use them? Only to put pressure I belive. + their army is decreasing its size. Since 2005 it lost 100k men.

I wonder when (if any time) they would be able to start a mass production of T50 (PAK FA). They did not manage with the SU-47. They did not manage with most of the previous planes. Their only aircraft carrier is in permanent repair and never has the full squad of planes.
Take a look at their efficiency in Georgia in 2008. They won ONLY because of Georgian terrible mistakes.

@ipwnagee Separatist in Osetia decided that it would be better to follow their local leaders rather than the central power- which was Georgia. In normal conditions it could work easily, but not with arms and not with so agressive enemy next to your border (Russia).
I supported Georgia in this conflict it was THEIR territory, where a rebellion appeared. Were they just a group of demonstrants? No, they were armed rebels. At least try to see the difference. Try to understand how countries work.

@Biogem369 Russia fought the facists in 1941, after being the BEST FRIENDS and ALLIES of Hitler for two full years. Russia and the Nazis, best of buddies. Then you get invaded and Russia begs the west for help, which the US provides in the form of billions of dollars of lend-lease help. Russia never says thank you.
Europe doesnt cower, they dont need to Hell, just France ALONE has a larger annual military budget than Russia.

The US Army has no 'myth' of invincibility, though it has only lost one war in US history, and thats a pretty good record. Russia on the other hand has LOST five of the last 6 non-civil wars it has engaged in, the worst military record of any nation on earth.
Of course the US copied Nazi technology, so did Russia, so did everyone else. Did you not cover this in high school or are you not old enough to go yet?
