If you look back at interviews of Vietnamese fighters for the north that ran into marines they say that they were afraid of them and didn't want to run into them. if you want to get into force recon in usmc you can try out no matter what mos you are in or field you just have to pass their pft (physical fitness) requirements.
P.S. my recruiter told me that it is a bitch to try out for force recon because he told me he tried out and the way he explained it to me is like "damn only a few can do taht shit lol" but he didnt make it to force recon.

Semper Fi. Don't listen to what they say anout the Corps. Here is another side you never hear, I was diagnosed with Cancer and they take great care of me. Anything I ask for, it's done. It's the ones with lil complaints they could care less about. But the real problems they protect! I am blessed they do what they do for me. Alot of times it wasn't the physical challenges to joining Recon but in able to join you must be the "best of the best" and the Sergeant Majors were reluctant to give up any Marine determined fit to make lateral move to Recon
These WERE the prerequisites of FORECON:current physical(no flaws),GT score of 105,CWS-1 swim qualification,20/20 vision(w/ minimumcorrection allowed ..laser eye sugery is allowed as long as 20/20 is corrected) Normal color vision(w/ exceptions of able to identify color cntrast between red and green,Good Pro/Con(3.8/3.8 or higher)Security Clearence eliglble and permission from the Sergeant Major of your command.
Sorry you can no longer join FORECON anymore as they have been disbanded and re-established as Marine Special Operations Battlions( MSOBs )at Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) a subordinate of Special Operations Command (MARSOC)
You CAN be an officer but you will NOT go out with the team during missions as only SNCO's and NCO's lead the operations.
I am currently in an officer program and so far I am looking at going for a Human Intelligence MOS. If there are any marines here that know about such an MOS, please feel free to fill me in beyond what a recruiting officer would tell me.
Basically...you gotta kick ass at everything. Thats what my recruiter told me. 1st class swimmer qualification, 1st class score on the PFT, complete the rifleman course, and not to mention you gotta graduate the BRC. (Basic Recon Course.) But hey I'm just a recruit so you dont have to listen to me.
u gotta have at least a third class, around a 260 pft or better, it helps to be an expert shooter and you about half-way through ITB ( infantry training battalion ) somebody will come see you about specific mos's. a good friend of mine is an 0321
dog your prolly gonna get stuck as an 0311 instead of recon. besides, when you see the beautiful hills of pendleton and somebody points out recon ridge to ya, youll be glad you dont have to climb that fucker.

actually, i didn't say anything different than you. the grunts do the down and dirty work...the airwing brings them support, the mechanics support the airwing, etc...my point, which you apparently missed, was that the infantry is not the only important part of the USMC. if any piece of the puzzle is missing, the mission fails. yes, i'm a POG. i'd be happy to rain down fire upon the guy shooting at you so you may return home to your family anyday. its how we work together.

if you want to get into force recon in usmc you can try out no matter what mos you are in or field you just have to pass their pft (physical fitness) requirements.
P.S. my recruiter told me that it is a bitch to try out for force recon because he told me he tried out and the way he explained it to me is like "damn only a few can do taht shit lol" but he didnt make it to force recon.

Semper Fi. Don't listen to what they say anout the Corps. Here is another side you never hear, I was diagnosed with Cancer and they take great care of me. Anything I ask for, it's done. It's the ones with lil complaints they could care less about. But the real problems they protect! I am blessed they do what they do for me. See if any other work place would give you all of this and a big pension just for being there? I promise there is not one. God Bless the Corps! Thank you!

Alot of times it wasn't the physical challenges to joining Recon but in able to join you must be the "best of the best" and the Sergeant Majors were reluctant to give up any Marine determined fit to make lateral move to Recon

These WERE the prerequisites of FORECON:current physical(no flaws),GT score of 105,CWS-1 swim qualification,20/20 vision(w/ minimumcorrection allowed ..laser eye sugery is allowed as long as 20/20 is corrected) Normal color vision(w/ exceptions of able to identify color cntrast between red and green,Good Pro/Con(3.8/3.8 or higher)Security Clearence eliglble and permission from the Sergeant Major of your command.

Sorry you can no longer join FORECON anymore as they have been disbanded and re-established as Marine Special Operations Battlions( MSOBs )at Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) a subordinate of Special Operations Command (MARSOC)
You CAN be an officer but you will NOT go out with the team during missions as only SNCO's and NCO's lead the operations.

Basically...you gotta kick ass at everything. Thats what my recruiter told me. 1st class swimmer qualification, 1st class score on the PFT, complete the rifleman course, and not to mention you gotta graduate the BRC. (Basic Recon Course.) But hey I'm just a recruit so you dont have to listen to me.

u gotta have at least a third class, around a 260 pft or better, it helps to be an expert shooter and you about half-way through ITB ( infantry training battalion ) somebody will come see you about specific mos's. a good friend of mine is an 0321

if you make it into the corps, you'll hear the term, "one team, one fight." alot. the grunts die without air support to bring you ammo and food or bombs to drop and end your battle. the airwing dies without mechanics to fix the aircraft. the mechanics die without security at the base camp. and so on and so on...
dont preach about how great you want to be. save that for if you actually make it.

actually, i didn't say anything different than you. the grunts do the down and dirty work...the airwing brings them support, the mechanics support the airwing, etc...my point, which you apparently missed, was that the infantry is not the only important part of the USMC. if any piece of the puzzle is missing, the mission fails. yes, i'm a POG. i'd be happy to rain down fire upon the guy shooting at you so you may return home to your family anyday. its how we work together.
