Is coloured sugar actually coloured sugar? Could i colour it myself? Or is it something different?

@cutie0kaila This sugar is red sugar liquid that has been crystallized, the red goes right through the small grains, you can make your own by combining food colour to white sugar

I made themand they looked amazing! Only problem was that the food colouring I used tasted like beetroot apparantely, so everybody gagged when eating them. I can't eat buttercream so i used fondant icing on my own, while it didn't look as good, it tasted delicious so the bad food colouring didn't affect me.
