  • Its So COOL!

  • Do you have directions on how to make?

I would love to build one for my son.

  • amazing!!!

  • instructions please??? he got a website?

  • nooo wayy O_O

  • IT DID ONLY TAKE 45 SEC TO BUILD THAT THING xDD

  • Quote from popularmechanics dot c o m:

""It was very challenging to attach cello strings to the cello, but I wanted the authenticity for the piece," says LEGO brick artist Nathan Sawaya. Sawaya only uses rectangular LEGO bricks—7000 of them for the cello. "I use this as a medium because I enjoy seeing people's reactions to artwork created from something with which they are familiar," he says."

So yes it's actually playable.. :-P

  • Immagine If you dropped that thing. That would be a lego tactical nuke.

  • omg i wanna make one!

  • is it reall playable? LOL XD

  • is it reall playable? LOL XD

  • saw it in lubic texas

  • suprise symphony by haydn? nice choice of music haha

  • wow!

  • mindblowing... ^o^

  • awsome cello!

  • lol mines just wood XD

  • @ZZgS ikr i feel so lame now

  • hes got a world-record

  • cool

  • he has done an interview about this cello It's playable but it sounds somewhat different and it looks sturdy enough to not break of the tension.

  • The artist has played it. Go look at his website.

  • nothing showing him playing it on his website, although there's a couple of photos showing him holding a bow close to it. However, GravityJim is right, bringing those strings anywhere near the right pitch would tear the sculpture apart.

  • On his website he only has some images where he is sitting at a playing position with the cello and a bow made of lego bricks. That's still not "playing" the cello, as the strings would just destroy the cello well before they were tuned, as someone else commented below.

  • Well done!

  • It can't be played... the string tension would crush it long before the strings came to pitch.

  • @GravityJim What if you use superglue?

  • @GravityJim

since the strings are up, it's likely it can. All professional lego artists, such as the ones at legoland glue each brick together, so depening on the glue, it could be played

  • I'd love to hear how it sounds! Pretty please :)

  • Neat! Too bad is it obviously not functional... :-(

  • Yes, yes, we want to hear the sound of this instrument!

Cello out of LEGO vid #2!
