Atlantic Starr has a serious funk jam here for the electronic mid-late 80's. This jam bangs on any club or car speaker. The video i must admit is wack though, then again most black music videos in the 80's suffered from terrible concepts and bad production values. (Michael Jackson sho' did raise the bar and lead the way). Atlantic Starr is one of the best love the funk and all the ballads too!
hey Mr Williams just came to my boutique with a friend there about to perform at the blue parrot on Sunday. He wants me to change up his look a little hook him up. I googled him all hype cause I remember singing these songs this is a cool moment. A good end to a yucky day
First time for me to see this video and I have this on vinyl and CD. I always prefered David Lewis' vocals over Wayne (who sung almost all the ballads), but I think that's just me...
i was 6 when this came out, i remember this one...i used to always listen to da radio and hear this song and i sang it when i got to school....i now work in radio and can play it from time to time.
Atlantic Starr put their foot all up in this one. This cut is dipped deep in Da Funk!!! Great group and good memories. Agree or not, mid 80's was ruled by Prince and Co. (the Time, etc...) and you can hear and see the Morris Day/Time influence. Funk's last gasp of breath before Rap/Hip-Hop totally dominated the latter part of that decade.
Great song. Can someone help me? I'm looking for (I think an 80s dance song) with lyrics like "whenever i go out with you, i find out something new........ you're a freak, you can't conceal it, no need to hide it"? THANKS!
Oh, easy! Alexander O'Neal - "Fake"! He's saying: "You're a fake..baby...you can't conceal it.." lol. Type it in on YouTube cause the video to the song is also up, and contact me if you want the MP3 to that song. Hope this helps.
Amen! And I guarantee you that some artist is gonna sample this very hook soon enough and the labels are gonna make sure that radio takes the song straight to number 1. Makes me sick how they use classic, talented artists...fails to promote them properly when their out....then when they've left the scene, re-jacks their music and turns it into some snap-crackle-pop-meaningless tune that winds up oversaturating radio for 6 months.
like comparing taco bell to REAL mexican food just because they have burritos n hotsauce LOL...sad actually but IF U were there the first time... >;-)

They took a big gamble on this funk jam; everyone knows them for their slow jams, and mid -tempo songs and not to many bands could do this.

this was way better than the ballad hits they did...one of my faves..it got a lot of spins when i started djing retro nights.
