@girdaboom Personally I would not stick to any preconceived ideas of how to respond to any given attack. I would do whatever I feel is appropriate at the time and forget about the names and specific moves of a particular technique. I believe that my reaction should be personal to me not EPAK that's just a guide left to us by GM Parker.
@ellul613 I agree you should not do techniques from memorization, but there is logic there to follow. That is why I am trying to follow your logic. Thanks for replying.

u have got to be the bigest dip shit on the face of the planet i dare u to say shit bout kempo to my face im a 4th degree black belt in it a brown belt in rickson gracie jiu-jitsu ive been studying kempo since i was 6 years old and besides kenpo blends muay thai, kick boxing, into part of its style so basically u are doing kenpo so dont be saying shit
i have. the fact is...you just dont understand what kempo is all about. the techniques you see all the time in videos are not "set" ..they are ideas. they were never meant to be pulled off in that specific sequence. they are designed to teach. most of them are againt grabs or something similar like bear hugs etc...not against a boxer or kickboxer winging punches at you. that type of situation is where the thai training and freestyle sparring which is also part of kempo will come into play.
continued, which is why it's important to note the difference between self defense and fighting. SD techniques are against common grabs, shoves, bear hugs etc. or a haymaker for instance. they are designed to teach concepts, not to be taken literally. noone would try to do this against a boxer or something, its suicide. but you grab my shirt and start threatening me and get my palm in your face and my foot in your groin, i bet you let go.
your point? all that means is you're a better fighter than he is...not that your art/style is better. my point is...you can't know much about kempo from studying it for a whole month...which would probably only amount to 8 classes total.

Can you explain your logic as to why you would choose to modify Thunder Hammers, instead of using Parting Wings or Thrusting Wedge?
Thanks.
