i have the same engine on a mitsubishi outlander with chip , 180 HP 410 Nm . I went 200 kmh with it , 6th gear 3900 RPM , do you think it can get to 240kmh ?:-/
Acceleration is very good 0-200 < 30 seconds . btw this engine is faster and more economical than the 2.0 tfsi .
@Twixx32 Its not faster than a 2.0 TFSI. A petrol engine is always more powerful than a diesel. Especially a turbo petrol vs a turbo diesel. However, the diesel is indeed more economical than the 2.0 tfsi.
@DarkBrute Of course it's not faster than a 2.0 TFSI. A petrol engine always has more hp than a diesel, that's why everyone thinks gas is better than diesel. But, in the end, if the cars have the same number of hp, the diesel car will win.
@claud1u1988 Well, yeah, because it has more torque. But for two similar engines to have the same hp with one being petrol and the other diesel, the petrol would have to be a 1.6 while the diesel would need to be a 2.0 and turbocharged. This translates into a very big difference in price, therefore you can't really compare them.
@Twixx32 Firstly, I was talking about stock engines with the same amount of technology invested in them. VW, for example, make 1.9 TDI's that have the same hp as a 1.6 petrol ( around 100 bhp) NA. A 2.0 TDI STOCK will not have 190 hp. My guess is you chip-tuned it. In which case, turbo petrol 1.6 can have 200+ hp (Opel Corsa OPC, Mini Cooper S). These are still relatively production engines, with very good reliability. Your engine might go at any moment...
@DarkBrute Yes you're right ,it's chipped but it was chipped by the manufacturer . It was just a sport package from ralliart . And you're right that ,mostly , a diesel engine has as many horsepower as a petrol engine with 200-300 cmc less , but if the petrol engine is non-turbo than the diesel is defenetly more powerful and has double the torque .
@Twixx32 And btw , the Skoda Octavia RS TDI is slower than the RS TFSI ,but i recently raced a Vw Passat 2.0 fsi and i smoked him pretty fast ( from 80-140 ) . I also raced an Octavia 2.0 tfsi ( not really a race , just messing on the highway ) and i keeped up with him at any speed and any acceleration. Didn't have enough space to try and overtake him but i always stayed right in his back ( even when he accelerated from 100 to 200).I think it helps a lot that i have shorter gear ratios .
@Twixx32 well, you say that. But a non-turbo petrol can get around 240 hp (honda s2000), if pushed. So if you apply the same amount of tuning, the petrol will always be faster, even without a turbo. If the honda had a turbo, it could easily push 300 hp. For a 2-litre, this isnt bad. And the most a 2.0 TDI can push is about 190 (using your engine as an example). The diesel might have more torque, but even this won't make up for the performance deficit. The petrol still has the upper hand.
@DarkBrute my engine only has a chip.if i change the turbo and other stuff i can easily get to 240-250hp and 550+ Nm.Whatever,we can cntinue this on and on but i would settle it by saying that petrol engnes are btter for lighter cars like 2 door sports cars, hatchbacks, small sedans,medium-size sedans and the diesel engines are better for heavy cars like suv's,minivans , pick-ups.But they can work very well vice-versa.Petrol and diesel engine have pro's and con's , there's no point comparing them
@DarkBrute And i personally prefer turbo petrol engine's for the sound and agility.I also like a sportier , lighter car rather than a big, heavy one and i will never buy something bigger than a medium-size sedan like an Audi A6 or a Mercedes E-klasse.But i also love powerful diesel engine's because of that imense torque and because it inspires pure power. peace !
Wonder how much diesel it actually eats if constantly driven 180+ km/h, or at top speed.
The one I have (stock, no mods or chip) shows around 20 l/100 km when accelerating wide open between 60-120 but that's just during acceleration.

@DarkBrute I have a 1968 cmc turbocharged diesel engine with 190 hp . Tell me a stock 1.6 petrol engine with that many horsepower
