Many fighters have had their chins dislocated from a shoulder bump!!?? This is so true, I've had my eyebrows broken a couple of times from a shoulder bump. Lol.
I think they were standard gymnastic mats - as the place ran a large gym club also - and it took around 20 to cover the area. The only problem was occasionally when they moved and you twisted a toe / ankle, tripping in the gap
Yes Richard was a student of both - I think he started with Larry Hartsell round about the time he started concentrating more on MMA than the PFS JKD concepts stuff which he did at the beginning.
The sifu did very good work on teaching the clinch. Most people don't know that JKD also fights from the clinch range. Clinching and trapping tactics make a dangerous combination. Keep up the good work - post more vids!
great were u teach at?

awesome vid, really like the shoulder bump to create space to strike.
monarofreak 2 years ago
Yep - that and the elbow and hip bumps are great Greco Roman techniques for creating enough space to sneak an uppercut through etc

does that squash ct have a padded fllor?
KLguy133 3 years ago
no, we used to have to put the mats down before each lesson and remove them afterwards
spankmeyer 3 years ago
That's actually a very good idea .
Judo type mats ? how many did you use ?
KLguy133 3 years ago
I think they were standard gymnastic mats - as the place ran a large gym club also - and it took around 20 to cover the area. The only problem was occasionally when they moved and you twisted a toe / ankle, tripping in the gap
spankmeyer 3 years ago
Ouch . the non sparring guys hould stand at the edge and wedge the mats in .
KLguy133 3 years ago
We all usually fought at the same time, then pushed them back together in the brief break between rounds

Looks like a decent trainer but had to laugh at the little bald guy in the background,he was hardly watching but loved his full european warm up
colinselby 4 years ago
Yeah you were right, the little guy was always doing his own thing. He left to get more into traditional boxing I believe.
spankmeyer 4 years ago
His name is Dan. Mental Dan.
PS. I believe Richard went to an instructorship programme at The Inosanto Academy. He was also held in high estemm by the late Sifu Larry Hartsell.

Ah right, sounds right.
