The Airplanes we had were great. We miss them a bunch. They sent them to Charleston and gave us C-5's. I think that the H-3 was the best C130 built. I know the "J" model guys might not agree!
I WORK FOR LOCKHEED AND I BUILD PART OF THE LOWER FORWARD FUSELAGE OF THE C130... I JUST GOT TO GO INSIDE THIS WEST VIRGINIA AIR GUARD C130 LAST WEEKEND IT WAS BUILT IN 1994......STILL GOIN STRONG
All the chutes opened. His fluttered, but eventually opened. Funny thing is all of his jump buddies made fun of him for that. I guess when your a Navy Seal they expect everything to go perfect. I actually got the (outside the airplane) footage from that guy. He had a camera on his helmet.
The aircraft in the video is a C-130, not a C-5. We transitioned to the C-5 in the mid 2000's. The video was taken in the late 90's and early 2000's. Aahhh to be back on a C-130...
The 167th is my unit as well. The footage in the video was taken by me over the years. I have to say as far as the fun factor, the C-130 has it over the C-5. Our C-130 were the best. The C-5's can move some serious cargo but the flying is no where near as exciting at the C-130. It is what it is though...
My dream for over 10 years is to be a loadmaster on a C-130. It is closer as i think atm, I've enlisted for Loadmaster in the Dutch Air Force, can't freaggin wait!
Man I can't wait!!! I'm slotted for load, leaving for BMT August 11th. 130s would be cool to be on, but I really don't care where they put me... This job just seems so amazing.
That's where I'm at, it's a blast man. A word of advice, you'll probably sit in Student Flight for a few months before you go to basic or tech school... just sit tight and be patient. It's kinda frustrating, but in the end it's well worth waiting for. It's a brotherhood in Charleston, and the best family I've ever been a a part of.

No CRW in this video, it's all MRB. This footage was shot when MRB still had their C-130's. It was a sad day when we went to the C-5.

Is it actually possible to jump out of the back of a C-5? I've never heard of that.
