japan doesn't just import oil it imports other crap produced by the oppressive theocratic regime. Frankly this compromises prospects for domestic production and jobs and hense gdp. Not to mention that crude oil is something nobody should be relying on in the future. the future is in alternative energy. Japan, like any country's addicition to oil severly limits its prospects not to mention threatens its sovereignty and is as much a matter of national security as it is an economic drain.
like I said I'm not sure how Japan expects the global community to stand up to hostile dictatorships in one part of the world trying to produce nuclear weapons while turning a blind eye to another in a different part.
So here is a good question. How good would it be for the Japanese economy if it got nuked by North Korea? You get back to me on that.
Well your entire post reeks of hypocrisy. The most fundamentalist theocratic regime in the Middle East happens to be Saudi Arabia. Lets compare womens rights and the level of Democracy between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Iran is a much better in comparison than the US supported Saudi government in those respects.
What about the United States support of the totalitarian human rights violating country of Uzbekistan? (see my page for a video about it).
I would actually say its your post tainted with the stench of hypocracy. You seem to think its ok to pick and choose and your justification seems 2b that b/c others do it you can condone others doing it.
Regarding fake outrage I'd also cite your response u either care that dictatorships r being propped up or not. u make a false assumption & mistake 2 assume I'm supportive of Saudi or Iran & seem to think its ok 2 justify Iran stoning women 2 death & hanging homosexuals b/c of what others do.
and they'd be doing better if they weren't importing crap from Iran.
Love you Japan but how can you do business with Iran and expect the world to stand up to countries like N. Korea?

Why would they do better if they didn't trade with Iran? That would be cutting off a valuable source of energy and significant trading partner.

and so the Japanese should let that happen again or spend billions on defense instead of investing in infrastructure and education?
I doubt it.

Lets stop this selective pathetic phony outrage.

You should look in the mirror and examine the brutality that our own government has been inflicting on the world.
Torture, Extraordinary Rendition (kidnapping), and bombing and invading other countries.
