  • Your work is beautiful.

  • hey i want to prepair a easy painting of nature for my project could you help me

  • wow!

  • great!

  • amazing work! your a true artist

  • Comment removed

  • @J4archae show off

  • Why the blue, why?

  • did you draw the rose using a pencil or a water color pencil? thanks!

  • How very pretty I am so jealous hehe Im an artist too but still practicing :)

I cant wait until I get good enough to paint nicely like this

  • The BEST rose watercolor video on Youtube-I've looked at SO MANY and they are too simplistic in the sketch, too sloppy or worse too difficult in the painting. I'm glad you chose to put the instructions on the screen. Helped me concentrate on the painting. I like that you explain WHY you are using a certain technique. Thanks again Bob!

  • I LOVED your painting! I am new to watercolors and have not painted a thing since the 2nd grade. I am 42 now, lol. So I'm discoering I have a leeeeeeeetle bit of talent. What do you use to actually draw the flower with initially? Is it pencil? Watercolor pencil, or a regular graphite pencil? Like I said, I am reallynew to this. I've been looking on youtube for how-to's for beginners and this is how I found your video. That rose is perfect. If I could ever get that good......sigh ~Molly

  • wonderful!!!!

  • Looks great! Wonderful job!

  • how long must you wait between steps?

I keep getting all my colours running together and losing my details

  • I noticed you gave some time for the rose color to dry and worked on the leaves, then returned to the rose. I forget to do this and soon have a soup of colors on the paper! Right now I'm letting a horse dry a little!

  • Is it necessary to put the painting vertically?

  • hi! thanks for the video! and also let me say that from now on thanks to you I do not hate watercolor paints any more !!)))) Good luck !

  • Hey guys, i don't think any of us should feel jealous... do you know why??

Because we all have diff. gifts and talents... his may be painting...

We can all paint... even if we aren't great at it..

As long as we know that we are enjoying ourselves and having fun

    Right??...:)

  • WOW, just WOW! I like It!

  • Very very nicee

  • you make it look so easy!!

  • absolutely beautiful... you make it seem so easy

  • what about the pencil outlines? you can still see them... looks nice and all but wouldn't it look better without the pencil marks

  • Thank you for your kindness in sharing your extraordinary skills

  • Doing something like this must be great for you brain. I loved it!

  • wat a lovely rose..I luv it!

  • very nice ,..thanks,...

  • Beautiful! What talent you have for blending. Watercolor is fun and difficult at the same time. Thank you for the lesson. : )

  • yay finally a left handed painter

  • @tengolibro I am left handed as well. left handers are naturally more creative than right handed people. there is a fun fact for the day

  • @tengolibro

    i'm one...

  • talk

  • is this watercolor painting, it's amazing, I never seen painting like this. I would love to be able to do this myself.

  • i dont understand what are people talking about your background :O

in my opinion its great to leave it just plain blue and simple. Others would just made something really detailed and that would ruin the rose :)

    Its a rose tutorial, not a background^^

  • I rather liked the Background. Don't let them bother you. They're just upset b.c you have a wonderful talent and they're jealous.

  • beautiful

  • A real pleasure to watch this video, very helpful thanks a lot Bob.

(Why do some people feel that they have to make sarcastic and rude comments, I refer to "booknutph" comment ) If you don't like what you see, fine no need to call him an Idiot!!

  • It looked much better with an empty background. Perhaps just a hint of blue suggested with much watered down paint rather than the dark blue if you must have a background. For any of you interested in absolutely stunning flowers in w/color, check out Birgit O'Connor's website. For you beginners, keep at it. Practice, practice and more practice and you will turn out lovely watercolors some day. Happy painting and God Bless.

  • Woww what a bless to be here!!

Your work is so wonderful thank you so much for share your treasures!1

Im going to buy my watercolours and im going to try to do your beautiful rose.

Thank yo so much your teach is a blessing.

  • I tried this, and the directions were so helpful that my rose actually came out pretty well, if I do say so!

    Thanks, Bob!

(My leaves didn't turn out quite so well, but I'll practice LOL)

  • Wow - you make it look do easy! Fantastic

  • It's so hard to do it though! I am painting a violin and I can't mess up so it makes it ten times harder.

  • i wish i coud paint with water paint

  • i would have like less skipping, to watch ALL the shading would help a learner like me.

    otherwise, very beautiful

  • Very nice, thank you.

  • WAUW!

  • nice to see another lefty thanks

  • This demo is excellent, and cleared up some problems I've had with hard vs. soft edges in realistic watercolor painting. It's clear now that I should keep the area near where I'm working dry if I want a hard edge, but dampen it when I want soft blending.

On the rose itself, only one thing would make it perfect -- adding thorns to the stem. I kept waiting for you to add thorns because I have trouble getting the ones that are at odd angles.

  • i love it !!!!!!!

  • Very detailed and very nice!!!!Awesome...

  • So beautiful, and I love the music as well! =-) Thanks!

  • Very good

  • this is awesome

  • very beautiful! :)

  • great painting but did you draw the rose

  • WOW, very inspirational! How long did it take you to paint this? I'm just a budding watercolor hobbiest, but I SOOoo want to paint a rose someday.

  • beautiful

  • ultramarine background isn't the right choice for peach rose...leave it plain paper white is better.

  • () ()

(='.'=) - this is such a good video!!!!

  • thank iu!!!!!!! n_O

  • Great wish i can draw and paint like that too!

  • WOW thankyou!

    Thanks for the video.

  • Thk you for being so generous & sharing your techniques!

  • Can you please tell me the name of the song??

  • you are a real art

    loved this vid! =]

  • That's beautiful! :) What do you use for the contours? a pencil?

  • you have a golden hand

  • That's pretty good, but I was thinking about painting roses with acrylic perhaps??

I think using heavier paint gives the richness and yet the softness of a rose.

  • How lovely! You are so good at this! :D

  • What is the beautiful music? It fits the inspiration of the painting!

  • The music is called Lochette. Its composed and played buy a guy called Marc Pattison through Shockwave Sound. It's a great tune and I've used it for several of my videos...

    Cheers

  • I did enjoy it very much. Thanks for sharing and taking the time.

  • I have never been so inspired to paint a gorgeous rose, probably because I never thought it would be possible (for me at least) to paint something so realistic, and understand how I did it. Your inspired twelve-year old, ~Ariel~

  • Eccellente. Molto utile l'informazione dei colori usati e la descrizione del lavoro. Grazie!!

  • watercolor is a difficult medium for me. i'm into acrylics myself but always wanted to improve my watercolor skills. your watercolor is so beautiful.

  • the ending is so beautful - how it is standing on the wall framed! i loved your drawing - you can turn anything into a piece of beautiful art

  • Yeah, I see the blue background is unnecessary, but I loved it :)

  • awsome video, had to try it myself right away. I had great fun and learned something new, Thank you Bob Davies

  • Very good :) but i don't like the Blue background , keep it white . Keeps the eyes on the Flower :)

  • Beautifully done - can't wait to try it. Very clear pictures of technique and great explanations.

  • beautiful, so inspirational! i will check out ur website now!

    Cheers
