Really, you mean the Severn Road Bridge. The Severn Bridge was damaged in 1960 and finally destroyed in 1967 (I think.) You can see the remains of the abutments on both sides (as well as the construction that supported the swing-bridge on the south side) still. At low tide you can see the remains of the piers and of the oil barges that struck the bridge.
It's a pity that the severn tunnel route from Cardiff does not take you past here. That's a fabulous view of the bridge.
