  • 4:27 sneak attack!! Nice one.

  • Something that I would look into is getting like a Hi-Def head cam so you could easily target the fish your going after and still get some good footage if you so desired.

  • i think that the video was good but your actions wernt apropriate but in all fairness i enjoy a video good camera shots thank you!

  • @SpearfishingGuru thanks but what action?

  • @underwaterireland on shooting so much fish in one day but i realise it was multiple clips lol thanks for the vid!

  • i would just like to say i spearfish myself im only 14 and i use a rubber powerd gun and it suks just because of this vid i am buying a pheinamatic speargun with 5 prong spear end i hope it gose well and please make more vids they are so straight ford to wat i type in (spearfishing)

  • @SPEARFISHING666DEMON im sure it says your 24 on your profile.. and your account name is abit, childish..

  • @OceansElwell hahah year i hate the the name do u no how to change it and btw i actly got my pneumatic spear gun its a se'ac sub asso 75 and i love it and i made the age older because i thought u needed to be 18 or older to make an acount

  • looks GOOD...I try to do my share of harvest on land with my bow.

  • I dont see why people rage about spearfishing. the fishes killed in this video is of a very common type fishes that dont get much bigger. I spearfish myself. its the fastest way to kill a fish so the fish dont suffer for minutes or hours.

  • Disgracefull, fancy spearfishing wrasse the most inedible fish in the sea, thats why you don't see them on fishmongers slabs. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • @kerryfoster1 I'm ashamed of your IQ level.

  • @kerryfoster1 go hug a tree bitch...

  • Comment removed

  • @HoleyTiger 1. Thanks for the reminder. When 5 years ago I started spearfishing here I tried to find any regulations. I found none so I contacted Fisheries Board regarding fishing rules and Garda regarding guns. Nobody was able to say anything clearly but eventually Fisheries suggested to follow Irish fishing regulations and to refer to UK spearfishing regulations.

  • @underwaterireland 2. Garda said ALMOST the same as you said: that a pneumatic speargun can be classified as a firearm if it is loaded on land, the same as a band powered gun can be classified as an arbalest again if it is loaded on land. Verbally we agreed that I should follow UK regulations until the Irish regulations are created. Here is an extraction from UK spearfishing regulations below:

  • @HoleyTiger 3. a) It is not permitted to use any means to catch fish other than by knife, hand‐spear or a spear expelled by a gun using compressed air, spring or rubber.

    b) No cartridge or expellable gas guns may be used.

    c) Guns must not be loaded on the beach or in a boat, and must be unloaded before leaving the water.

  • @HoleyTiger P.S. Since I started filming, I don’t fish anymore – don’t have time. My rusty speargun is lying somewhere in the attic without pressure.

  • @HoleyTiger Last small thing, or to tell exactly – useful advice that I received from Garda officer when I was enquiring regarding spearguns in order to avoid any potential problem: no pressure inside – no pneumatic gun. So, keep it pressure free when you store or transport it, that's it.

  • You are a pro

  • should i get a sl 70 or a sl100

  • @switzercraftbullet I think that sl70 is enough for our fish unless if you want to fish tuna :) Besides, I'm 175cm tall and I think I'll not be able to load sl100 in water (arms are not long enough).

  • @switzercraftbullet One more tip: if you going to order speargun, order couple of spare shafts (inox is better), spare tips single and mutlyprong for flatfish and rocky places, spare loader (-s).

  • do you snorcle or dive with a tank i live in the west of galway i go snorcleing for scalops and love being in the water.there are loads of places i could go spear fishing i fish alot with a rod and in a currach but dont know where to get a stear gun.im new to it and i would love to start.do you have any info or tips please tell me

  • @switzercraftbullet I do snorkeling and freediving only. You can get any gear including a speargun from scubastore dt com Good luck.

  • 4:24 that was perfect

  • why are you killing wrasse? surely you dont eat them.

it would be like eating a fukin shoe!

or do you just like to kill whatever you see?

  • @baldycoup for the 10th time: yes, I'm eating wrasse. But I'm not eating beef and chicken. Any problem here? I never kill (-ed) more than I can eat without stuffing myself and I don't (again - didn't) kill for relatives (as master rambos said - funny...) If you watch my different videos where in 2007 and this year I swam with lots of bass? I had speargan with me but I didn't kill any fish, man. So, try to read info about the video and think, then - say something. Please.

  • @baldycoup wrasse are lovely to eat boiled with onions

  • got me a 55 cressi fart gun ,wen you doing a new spearfishing vid ,we got my water at moment !!

  • hi wat gun are you useing and how much was it thanks

  • Cressi SL 70 you can check price in scubastore

  • nice job am back on youtube ,ive just got a seacsub thunder 75 and will be going at easter for my frist shoot cant wait 5* favs

  • :S really hard to tell the distance with those weed around

  • nice vid do you have to fill the gun with air for every shot or can you get a few shots out of one charge of air 5* favs

  • You'll get a pump but you'll not need to fill it in with air for a very long time (I use mine for 3 years since I bough it without doing anything except washing, drying and dropping some oil on it). Check part 2 with single tip.

  • nice fuckn 5 tiped spearhead. god im gona puke. thats pathetic

  • @StevEandNimbuS,you=bellend

  • @StevEandNimbuS you're right, it's not for rambos

  • those airguns are pathetic,

  • Hey man I'm from Donegal and do a lot of spearfishing but my spear gun isn't designed for the fish over here, it's high powered and has a heavy single head on the shaft for large fish. Was wondering where you picked up yours?

  • scubastore dt com

  • i notice ur down pretty long... u free diving or using tanks? we can't spearfish with tanks here in australia

  • I do freediving only. No, I can't stay down for long. 25 years ago - between 1.5/2.5 minutes without problems, now ... much less. Too much of alcohol was consumed from that time :)

  • lol cool, i like the bottom of the area ur swiming in, theres lots of celp, weeds etc... looks good, here at south australia its all sandy lol- im geting a spear gun in a couple of months, in summer cant wait to try it

  • and lease can you tell me the name of you underwater camera, thanx...

    btw nice catching

  • Here I used Canon G7.

  • is that mares medi sten?

  • If you asking about speargun it's Cressi SL 70cm

  • you are very luchy man!! nice skill also! bravo!! im fishing in cyprus but... there is no so many....!!

  • Thanks man. Come to Ireland, you'll enjoy just water bit cold +14 right now...

  • Damn UWI, what's all the fuss about?? Good on you for geting out there having fun and feeding your family some fresh fish. We smoke wrasse over here and it is tastey, but to each his own, sustainable fishing is the way to go! From the way the comments were reading I thought you must have speared a dolphin or whale shark LOL. Keep up the good work and cheers for sharing!

  • thanks man for all your comments...

I did hot smoke wrasse with garlic on a barbeque many times - really nice one...

but again - it depends of your preferences

  • Hjaltland2 if u dont like it dont coment on spearfishing videos u homo

  • Nice video man! I spearfish the west coast also, particularly mayo. Also got a pneumatic gun. have always left the wrasse alone but you say they make good eating? Also do you get any decent amounts of bass? been searching for years with no luck. Its always been pollack, mullet, flatties, gurnard, ray and monkfish(once) so if you could hint at a productive spot id be eternally grateful.

  • I don't know Mayo, sorry man.

Closest to you spot I would recommend is Galway area - lots of bass

  • Why are you killing wrasse? Are they good eating. I was told they dont eat well. If I am wrong tell me, coz I catch em with rod and line alot

  • no.

  • Try yourself, what can I say. Don't fry on pan, cook it in oven with mayo, some garlic if you like it. Don't overcook!

  • nice one . might see you on or under the irish sea

  • that food looked good as fuck man

  • Do you know how long Ballana take to grow that size... something like 8,9 10 years. I hope someone sticks a fork up your arse someday... you cruel thoughtless bastard.

  • your a fuckin retard, you make no sense, its surely better to kill a bigger fish with more to eat than a small fish with less to eat,you wanna eat some more fish to help that brain out or whatever the thing between your ears is called, twat

  • ryanthefisher, i'm guessing your young or mabey have a poor memory cos thats what they said about cod and haddock not so long ago. only take what you need and mabey our kids can do the same in 20 years time.

  • hello.Excellent video + footage.I fish a lot as in angling where bouts r u at? Are you going to eat those ballan wrasse? I eat pollack but what about wrasse?

  • Good for you, man. Seriously. What the heck were you using to spear the fish though? Looked like a giant sharpened fork. lol. Everyone should never kill more than they can eat. Nice job, man.

  • Thanks. It's 5-Prong Tip, quiet useful if you know how to use it. This year I've used mostly single tip - spoiled few of them but it's more ... sporty :) I have lots of nice episodes of 2008 but the season isn't over yet.

  • Are there sharks in the northern atlantic?

  • I hadn't chance to see any except dogfish.

  • are you snorkel or scuba here?

  • I never tried scuba, if you see most of time I swim right above the surface. I have new episodes of fishing close to the bottom (5-10m) with single tip, will post them later.

  • Of course I shoot different fish as well but since my family tried wrasse cooked by myself - they prefer it. Some my Irish friends tried my wrasse and they really enjoyed it. About dumb fish - on my opinion trigger and flatfish are dumbest but lots of spearos kill them for the table. I was in Donegal last week and wrasse there ... extremely smart and fast. I have some new episodes, will post them later. Any way, thanks, try wrasse with my recipe, I think you'll like it.

  • I fully agree with turbot. we should eat a greater diversity of fish. If you like Wrasse eat it. 5 years ago fisherman threw away gurnard becasue it wouldnt sell. Now its on fish restaurant menues everywhere. Same story with Monkfish 15 years ago. Rambo is a clueless chump and has no idea about sustainable fishing.

  • I was born in southern country and I like food with real taste, like smelly cheese, red-red wine (or tequila), lamb, fish like carp, cat-fish, etc. From the sea I prefer same things: oysters, fish with more taste or at least with color (ha), octopuses, etc. I'm not bad cook, I can make tasty even piece wood, so wrasse or mullet to me is easy job to make it really delicious. It's primitive to think like "...if I don't like something -- nobody should like it as well..." but some people do it.

  • hey, nice shots you got there.

i'm just wondering whats the brand and model of your pneumatic gun

  • Very basic model - Cressi 70cm long, it's easy to load and it fires like a cannon.

  • you nob head why would you shoot a wrasse they suck too eat and are probably the dumbest fish in the sea ( They will swim at the spear and spear themselves ) pat yourself on the back you shot the easiest fish in the sea !

  • I think you've missed something - click "More info" in the right column. I never said that I'm a Rambo who kills 200lbs tunas... I kill fish which I personally like to eat... if my preference is wrasse - what is the problem? People eat snails and frogs - I don't mind if they like it... I avoid to kill bass becasue it's beautifull and I simple respect it...

  • Why on Gods Earth would you want to kill big dirty Wrasse? Beautiful to look at, but that's as far it goes for these dumb fish! Some people confuse the life out of me!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Again - any fish is beautiful, not wrasse only. Why wrasse is dirty? I think pig is more dirty than any fish but you most likely eat ham every day? Please read "More info" about this clip and my personal preferences before to say something. I use to live in different countires for many years where I use to kill catfish, eels, carps, etc... Becasue simple I love to eat them! But I don't like cod, pollack, even flatfish... I didn't know that this is a problem for some people...

  • Ok Mr Sportsman, if you like eating green coloured flesh then who am i to argue. They're not exactly the most agile fish on our coast a bit like shooting fish in a barrel i think. If you don't like eating pollock then why are you killing them? Let me guess, for a neighbour, family or friends?

Probably more like a cat bringing the mouse home to show how great to everyone he is.... Very sad!

  • ...o man, you made my face red again. Yes, I've killed that pollock to prove to my lovely girlfriend that I'm a strong MAN... She married me after and we have 3 kids now... But I felt guilty to that fish and I keep it in my freezer hopping that some day scientists will find a possibility to bring it back to the life. That's briefly, when I get retired I'll write a book about this, just wait. By the way, green color calms, especially if you digest it...

  • Yep Mr Sportsman, that sounds about right.

Can i have a signed copy please, you sound great!

  • No problemo... free for you. I see you took something green, good man. If you have not wrasse meat - Tequila does exactly same thing... Any way it was nice talk to you but I can't keep it -- don't have time.

  • 4sure Mr Sportsman, keep up the killing of the biggest & oldest ones you can spot on the day, you're wife and kids will be more impressed with your hunting skills.. I know i am.

  • Hey, I'm an angler myself but what size of table does he have? There is such a thing called unnessacry waste + the fact that the many wrasse he's killing are not young. Always respect your quarry, but thanks for the info anyway.

  • well, have 2 agree on you with the amount thing.Def too many wrasse killed there

  • @ryanthefisher too many for one year?

  • @ryanthefisher sorry, you think it's too many for a year (that's how much time I spent collecting those episodes)?

  • @rambos2ndcousin I never kill (use to kill before I switched to photo & video) more than I can eat in one go without stuffing myself. All this fish was killed during whole year. Plese read info about the video before to say something.

  • @rambos2ndcousin Again, I spent a year collecting those episodes. About size: I was trying to kill size which will suit my family table. If you scroll down you'll find comments where different people critisizing me for killing too small fish... Who's right?

  • Fair play! Very good video and nice insight into spear gun fishing!

    Thanks.

  • Nice video. How do you prepare and cook the wrasse? I've only ever speared Pollock so far. What lenght gun do you use?

  • you spear mullet!!?? they are not so great tasting eh? Where abouts do you get your sea bass? In similar environments in kelp or do you have to look for another more sandy/estuarine environment. I m interested cause i was thinking of taking up spear fishing bass in ireland. I live near cork.

  • i live around cork area as well thingking in spear fishing from august, i m bringing my equipment here, we could meet
