I agree with mnlaxer, each yeast has a different direction on how to heat the water to pitch it, for pitching yeast for beer on the other hand, if you pitch it anywhere warmer between 70-80 degrees the yeast will die
You are making it difficult, one you forgot to mention sterilization, two pitching the yeast is easier to do in the fermenting bucket, and three you don't rack the must until after a week or two, my suggestion is to read on how to do it or get someone to help you who has made Meade before
You say that if you pitch the yeast above 90 deg it will kill the yeast. I am going to call BS on that one since you are supposed to rehydrate the yeast between 104 and 109 deg F. What say you to that?
ahahah! I just started watching videos about mead making and major rule is to SANITIZE! lol
Lets see:
dropped racking hose on the floor, put back in bucket, buddy drops cig smoke ashes in bucket, guy mashes yeast prep through funnel into carboy - almost uses his friends pen!!
Thanx for the upload, any suggestions on a good/cheap company to purchase supplies and honey. I've done business through Willam's Brewing and beer beer and more beer, any other companies that you like?
man i know its a little old now but you really made me laugh. I have subcribed to your channel as i like to have a good laugh. Subsribed to mieses2pieces as he is awesome too..
Awesome, thanks for putting this up, this is exactly what I was looking for to get an idea of how mead is made. Dont know if I have the patience to wait months for fermentation though, might have to wait until summer for that.
I think you need to seriously rethink the steps you take when you start brewing. Sanitation is key, dropping equipment on the ground is very bad when you put it back in your fermenter. Also, it's not a bubbler, it's a fermentation lock.
hey glen thanks for the comment as for tips its prett straight forward watch my video and some by onodocops i just saw those today and you should do good yours with regards mark

yeah, sanitizer. because sanitation was such a big thing to the vikings. grow some balls and don't be afraid to get your hands in the mix.

Sanitization is the key to consistent alcohol production. Consider the use of sanitizing solution.

Not to mention that Bob has a smoke in his hand and dropping ashes in the mixture.

you totally contaminated your honey and ruined the pasteurization when you dropped the siphon and put it back in without sterilizing it.
