Wrongo sir. While I enjoy ALL kayaking forms, open water surfski and kayaking disciplines are just as appealing. And of course flat water racing in Olympic K1 and K2 boats is so rewarding since you know you reach amazing speeds and efficiency not because of the current or water, but because of your own manpower. It's like comparing running on a track team and free/parkour running. They both have their ups and downs.

BTW, open water kayaking without the tricks can be just as dangerous.

First off, tbm... is half right, secondly just normal kayaking can be thrilling or at least for begginers anyway and it can just as easily be dangerous on flat water. My friend nearly died in a mere swimming pool (fairly small one) but thank god i saved him! Its dangerous in every occasion, care always needs to be taken and being cocky = being in trouble!

Kayaking has a massive Variations, what your watching is a demonstation of kayak control and ballence. If you think kayaking is boring or un- extream then take a look @ big wave freestyle, K1/C1 creeking, waterfall hucking, Technical river running, slalom, whitewater racing, C1, C2, open specialist, sea surf, touring, long distance, slide kayaking, volume kayaking (check out the zambezi river, slave river)

In fact i dont know many sports with such a range of Specialism! u lot wud shit ur pants!
