I think many can agree with this thought. There are very few albums in which i deeply feel ever song. Whatever and ever amen is in that other category. Simply put this album is a beautiful piece of music
I just want to say thanks for posting this song. I heard this album when I was 16. It was the first time I can ever remember popping in a cd and being so mesmerized by it that I couldn't move from the bedside where I was sitting until it was completely finished. I miss Ben Folds Five.
No matter what the song may mean to Ben, it means something to eeryone who hears it. All of their songs make a difference to SOMEONE, and this one means alot to me... ^^
this is my favorite ben folds five song

What's that sound you hear before the song starts?
jhillst 1 year ago
@jhillst He rubs something across the strings of the piano, but I'm not sure what.
hpsnorlaxdirector 1 year ago
@hpsnorlaxdirector As a matter of fact, that sound is heard again starting at 3:24

@hpsnorlaxdirector Sounds like a guitar pick.

@hpsnorlaxdirector It sounds like he uses a guitar pick or something, or maybe his finger nails?
trasuranic 3 months ago
@jhillst It's a mixture of tuning the piano and rubbing the string.
ja0401 8 months ago
@jhillst I'm pretty sure that's the sound of someone tuning a piano. That's the sounds of the strings stretching.

The Piano Man by Billy Joel is another song that is in 3/4 and has an accordion and piano; it seems like an unlikely match.

this song is about one of bens best friends who died, the best songwriter of all time, the last great, Elliott Smith
troye2407 2 years ago
No that is actually not this song. You're thinking of Late on Songs for Silverman.
xXElitePaladinXx 2 years ago 6
Im pretty sure this song is not about Elliot smith... Although yes, he was great. One of the best.

BFF, great as usual. One of his deeper songs. I think Ben wrote this song to try and allow himself to let go from something in the past.
mtb416 2 years ago
Ben didn't write the lyrics, his wife at the time (now ex) Anna wrote the lyrics
