In fact, the bible states also that Only by abiding this "procedure"/way of Jesus, you attain Salvation. Besides leading a godly life, it comes with necessary observance of doctrines. Receiving Baptism in Jesus' name, Holy Spirit, Feet Washing and many more, these are essential steps for salvation as clearly written "Unless one is born of Water(Baptism) and Spirit(HolySpirit), no one can enter Heaven". "Unless i wash you(r feet), you have no part in Me."

Ephesians 1:13-14 Make it clear that if you have the holy spirit you are definately going to enter the new creation, it's a "seal", a "guarantee".

Acts 10:44-48 Shows people clearly recieving the Holy Spirit prior to baptism.

@Rhuanjl This man (or woman, its hard to tell through a name) speaks the truth. The spirit enters upon Belief. Belief in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Christ.

@SimplyMadeOfDust09 In John 3: Jesus is talking about a physical birth and a spiritual birth. Nicodemus asked can a man go back into his mother’s womb and be born. Jesus DID NOT start talking about water baptism, he answered Nicodemus since he was asking about going back into his mother’s womb and being born again. Born the first time coming out of a watery bag in our mother’s womb, the second birth experienced by receiving Jesus into our lives as John 1:12 says.

The only way one can fall short of the test of Christianity is to lose FAITH in the COVENANT. The commandment and the pleasure of God is FAITH and COVENANT and nothing more. When you hear other information (such as sin awareness) being proposed - be very suspicious. This type of philosophy will pull you away from faith and covenant.
