@barno don't worry about all the haters..there is always some ahole who says he can do it better..techniques vary from person to place as well as the job sometimes. i have been doing this stuff for years and the haters just spend to much time hating and not working. @peedut-this isnt europe and we dont work for pounds or peanuts, but i agree, stick together the quality of our workmanship will show through after that european has left
Moving like a guy that gets paid by the square foot.
There seem to be two schools of this. Middle first, top second, bottom last. And this guy's technique, top first, middle and bottom second. Maybe based on the height of the wall and weather the top requires stilts?
whats the difference with rough walls that have wall paper covering them and smooth skimmed walls? what has usually been applied to walls that are not smooth underneath and have lining paper and wall paper. I hate wall paper its horrible stuff and causes mould and smells musty, nothing but trouble.
@67tr876 well the plasterboars either needs to be taped and jointed or fully plastered as if you painted it as it was the joins would show through and it gives the wall an extra layer it kind of insulates the plasterboard
This guy is a real pro you can tell. As fo the comments about he's doing it wrong, please. This guy is a credit to the trade. Like he said if we stuck together more we wouldnt have all this foregn labour over here pretending they can plaster by flicking loads of water on walls and sanding. The secret in this games not what you do but what you dont do. brilliant.
@barno1966 and i didnt say it in my last comment mate but well done, nice job im just learning myself at the moment im an apprentice but ive seen it been put on by many plasterers and your as quick as they come
The comments on here have a fantastic read and a really good giggle ,,but I only put the video on so people could see it being applied to the wall . As for all this "one coat " comments ,,ther was another coat applied and trowelled up in the proper manner ,,,it was then painted by the decorator ,, then best of all payed for by the client ...
So all the comments about ""I could do this better I could do that better ,,hes not not doing this right ,hes not doing that right "" give us a break
@barno1966 i agree plastering is not about competition, some and yes there is always going to be someone faster than you but just to be able to apply plaster to the wall is a skill which takes ages to ;earn in its self its not all about the race
most plastering videos i watch they always have comments saying there better but then they have no videos to prove it....
by the way i think this is good work and although i havnt even started plastering in collage yet i probly wont be able to do it that good for years :L
for a decent job he would have to visit those walls at least 5-6 more times.. He's only thrown on the 1st coat!!! nice to see a bit of plastering though..
There you again, I can plaster better than you, faster than you, earn more money than you etc, and while you're all stabbing each other in the fucking back an eastern european has come in and done it for £50 a day. Wise up guys, a bit of sticking together and supporting each other and the building trade would'nt be on its knees and full of cheap fucking labour from abroad.
@ririshow the plaster is made from British Gypsum a natural mineral mixed with chalk, lime and other materials. The colour is common in the UK as we only have a few commercial manufacturer's and "British Gypsum" are the most common.
The materials used in other countries will pertain to natural minerals found in each geographical area.
@ririshow there's a chemical reaction whereby powdered particles flocculate or clump together, the water must be clean drinkable water. It's not really very elastic but quite brittle but quite still once placed and not strechy. It's a magic material to work with, very satisfying.
Note how he starts off ok, but quickly fades to a snails pace. Obviously not accustomed to hard work , This guy wouldnt last a day with a term of pro's...also it looks like he mixed a batch with his head...someone should fell him with a shovel and use him for a hop up.
hes a fucking cow boy ive done loads of reskims in county durham after he and his muppets have been in and the mess he leaves is a discrace i know of at least 4 people that have called on me to put his work right !!! hes been on a course im sure
E questa porcheria voi la chiamate rasatura? Sono davvero senza parole, se volete vedere come si rasa per davvero venite a farvi un giro sui miei cantieri!
A good greener in the plaster makes it set smoother, thats been a trade secret for years also if your doing a ceiling put the plaster on then rub a balloon on your head for 52 minutes and the static makes the plaster level.
Fantastic and yes I'm gonna learn how to skim my walls. Rather that than pay someone else. I have several rooms to do but I can see the magic is in the mix, the rest is learned through repetition and drive for quality finish
It's funny how these guys load their hawk by putting it under the mortar board . You wouldn't want to do that with lime and gauging , splat you'll go blind his tender is going to have a hell of a time keeping up
i know i where a bag pack with a bag of multi pre mixed inside that has a digital pump and hose attached to my arm leading to my hawk ,when the specially adapted hawk runs low it send a signal to the pump and loads me back up it cost me £1500 but i shouldnt be telling you guys this its really new out its being tested in japan now but i got one throught a supplier man i can do twice as much in a day but still need labourer because he fills back pack up wilst im eating sandwitch : )
yeay did it ceiling is sort of ok give myself 8/10 and my walls 9/10. really good to use finishing plasterbut it did syart to set in bucket taking to long to do 2 walls but added some water and it seems ok.. got lovely finish on the final polish.only prob is that on the final buff i have some tiny low spots looks like paint flak. , guesst sand out or maybe the emulsion will fill yep that will be ok. thanks .
just found out about beading why didnt anyone say about beading. had hell of time going aroung attic hatch.also i had small amount remaining it was starting to set so i added water and used to get final polish and buger me it dident set poroperly like dry toothpast luckly just very small area, looks pretty god dame good though . going to fit 150 watt bulb to hide the shadows lol . just joking.
@jrgniuwer For Artex - scrape back high spots then use a bonding agent - Blue Grit, Bond-it or Wickes Plaster Bonding Agent. PVA can be a bit of a lottery
I have to say this. He brings new meaning to "blue collar worker". (heehee) hope this vid was from the 80's. Oh yes also he might think of quitting his job, and going on the road with his singing.
its where the gypsum comes from, in england its either brown/pink or grey, depending when it comes from in the country, in europe the gypsum tends 2 be white.
this man has'nt a clue about plastering. the ceiling is still wet. he should be rubbing that instead of putting on more and you double coat everthing when your skimmin. his singing is better than his plastering which says alot
plasterer for 28 years ,its 2 hour set on finish and he hasn't closed it in yet(means applied second coat of finish) ,as it needs 2 coats of finish to be done properly , what i will say what a fookin lazy arsed labourer hes got the wanker should be cleaning up and if half a brain should be learining the trade by putting a cupboard on the lazy arsed prick!
All these haters, uh. If you're slow, you're slow. If you're fast you're fast, who cares? If you're gettin' the job done then thats the main thing, tbhz. Jus' sayin.
That is a time served spread, unless you're using two trowels and one on your old fella at the same time you can't slate him, people say I'd do the whole in that time, yeah and I'd do the room and a hallway too :D
