  • put a newer 25hp motor on that thing and it might go alright :)

  • that's an awesome boat

  • Nice Job, Good Video.

  • Thumbs up here , Better build then i could do .

  • im building one. thats all there is to it

  • Thats awsome dude! Do u have plans or did u make it yourself? How fast does it go? How many hp is the motor?

  • @MrPinhead11It isa scratch build no real plans to speak of but i did some basic drawings before hand. The engine is 18hp, top speed with me (225pnds) is 26mph by gps. Im guessing maybe another 1 or 2 mph with a lighter person.

  • Hi! I have started to build a hydroplane. Length is 24 feet and i have used the same materials as you. BUT i don't know what kind of engine i should use(?) is 100 HP to much?

  • @S1ndr3c To start i want to say I am no boat expert, but since you asked, I believe 100hp is actually somewhat modest for the length of boat you are planning. I imagine you are wanting to haul-ass with a boat that long and I personally don't think I would go less than 150hp on a craft that length with high speed in mind.

  • @drawingslim Mate, get a 125 hp

  • @S1ndr3c a 250 hp should do the trick and haul ass

  • @S1ndr3c noo my dad has a 19 foot laser tunnel haul same thing pretty much and he has a 150 hp

  • @S1ndr3c I have a talon 21(tunnel boat) with a 200 hp,it runs 82mph if that gives you an idea

  • hell yea i got a keg of beer & a 125 outboard with nothing to put it on so lets build 1 ---- oh and im fat so i will need the 125 hp minimum 6ft 2 & 240 isnt alil fella

  • Your story is similar to the hydroplane that I rebuilt from the hull up. The only difference was hull design as the boat had a tunnel hull that allowed the boat to get up out of the water on its pontoons rather than a flatter hull design. I had similar planeing issues when I first drove it, but cutting the height of the transom solved the problem as the motor was sucking air when forced to plane out. highest

  • Nice work i admire people who go out and do what their hart desires great job.

  • Lots of comments, that's great...

In MY opinion, 18 Hp is too much power and too heavy. Also, find a way, like you said to add weight in the bow. I put my little 3 gallon tank in the bow, and I use an old Evinrude 9.5 two-stroke....75 lbs.

I agree with Jason...it seemed like it needed MORE throttle! Once you hit the "magic speed", around maybe 12-15 knots, the stern should lift UP!

It's not the "balance" so much -it's getting up on the step. Forward ballast just helps to get there faster...

  • no put the motor at a slight tilt then give it stick and it will start to plane an it should be smooth sailing.

  • might need some weight in the front lol but very nice design

  • Prolly should've did some reading on boat balance b4 starting, easily 80% of the weight is aft.

  • cut out a small hole in the bow and put a cinder block in. it works for my tiny boat.

  • :D did you work out the pitch thing???

what you need to do is lean as far forward in it and give max reves and it wil pull its self back down flat and will fly across the water i have one of these :D

  • i like the boat but you should of used longer sponsins and a short shaft motor other wise nice

  • Hey man great advice I am in the process of welding up an angled motor mount for the back of the boat. I haven't taken the boat out yet since the first run because it's just been too cold and windy. I will be sure to post the next run hopefully at some decent speeds :) Thanks again for the comments and advice

    @Sparkinrailz

  • Ever get it to plane off? and what kind of speed were you seeing if you did?

  • killer job and no ballest needed trim the motor more, transum is to vertical! tilt the motor this way \ with the nose of the baot > this way. good luck hope i helped! and great build

  • I love the design of your boat and im thinking of making one.

Whats the length and width and hight of the boat.

    Thanks Alot Great video!

  • @MrTheshooter47 Thanks for the comment, The boat is 8'2 in length and the beam is 6 ft at the front sponson and 4ft aty the rear. The height is 22 inches. Good luck with your build and be prepared to spend a few more hours than you thought to complete it haha

  • @drawingslim little comments put weight in the front.

  • super cool!! did you burn it ? too bad its awesome !!

  • @6bettyboo9 I was referring to the boat that came with the trailer when i bought it. The mini boat is safe and sound in the garage at home :)
