I have the ps2 version of this game and the part where Eddie's eating pizza has a really funny glitch in it. Eddies hand moves up to his mouth but the pizza slice is still on the table, then when he puts his hand down the slice flies up to his face all by itself xD

Hmm... Considering Laura is the only one who can't see the monsters maybe the monsters only appear to adults because they know right from wrong. Since children are considered "innocent", the monsters have no reason to attack them. After all, the monsters are suposed to be the physical form of a persons sins or inner demons.

@SuperCheese45 The town is just evil... it makes you suffer if you are "impure", brings out your fears, pains, sins in the form of monsters. Laura is the only "pure" character, that's why they probably chose her to be a child, even more, she is a female child, and that's why she's safe.
