While I hate that Arsenal fans booed him, it was the turning point for him from being a mistake ridden, fringe player to an Arsenal legend and a man that even fans who don't rate him as a player can appreciate for his resilience and his ability to come back from what would have finished off lesser men. All hail Eboué, the embodiment of a winning spirit, a fantastic squad player and all round joy to watch. I hope he stays with Arsenal forever.

All the comments about him not deserving it are bollox! he's come back 100 times the player he was since that incident, before that all he did was run into defenders losing the ball and dive like a bitch he needed it, much like a few of the other overpaid wastes of space we have in our team at the moment...since that day he has shown more commitment to arsenal than near enough any of the other players on our team.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point. The anger from the fans had built up over months of his poor performances, and the wigan game was the last straw.
Now of course he is one of most popular players in the fans eyes and a cult hero, so if anything that experience probably helped to make him a better player.

I don't know about that! I think he's one of a few AVERAGE players Arsenal have. Arsenal haven't one everything for five years, and the calibre of player in certain position NEEDS to be improved. For instance a goalkeeper worthy of the number one, not the current joker. Eboue is our utility player, Michael Essien and Owen Hargreaves occupy the same roles at United and Chelsea. Can you honestly say that Eboue is in the same class as those two?

If i had Eboue's talents as a footballer, his pace, his crossing ability and earnt the money he does, and played as badly as he did in that game in December 2008 than i'd expect to be booed.

Don't get in a tiff, Eboue HAD been playing like shit. Don't look at it through rose tinted glasses ppl. At that time we didn't want him to be a right midfielder, he was garbage at that for a good long time during that stretch of the season.
