Pathanpuram isnot the origin of Christians in Kerala/Malabar.Pathanapuram is place in Kollam (dt) and until1900 A.D. it was known as Kattupathanapuram as it was forest area.There is no Pathanapuram ritual.The syrian Christian follow the rites of Syrian Church.When apostle Thomas Came in India there were Jews in Kerala especially on Malabar cost. The form of worship of the Nasranis is of Syriac origin and connections made with "offering of flowers" is during Palm Sunday (listen to worshippers saying Ooshana/Hosanna) to re-enact the procession of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and the hand movements of the priest and the use of bells are according to the rubrics of the Syriac liturgy. The Syriac liturgy brought to the Nasranis is the same as their sister Syriac Church.

It would be wrong to interpret that Syrian Christians inherited rituals from Hindus, because the word Hindu itself is a recent invention compared to centuries of peaceful mutual coexistence of Christians and all other communities. The common elements we see today must have had an evolutionary path common to all communities rather than one adopting from the other. Kerala was a plural society and will remain one.

However, the uniqueness of the Syrian Christan community perhaps is not owing to a few of these rituals, but to the strong Syriac lineage and traditions. The depictions in the video is a very narrow view of a community with a rich heritage!

You are right. This video has portrayed the christian community in Kerala in a very narrow way. As if though the christians were one group. The history of the christians is much more complex than this and it's not just one group. There were many different migrations to kerala over an extended period of time. For example, they didn't talk about the syrian christians that migrated from modern day iraq to kerala in the 9th century or the many other migrations.
