syrian christianity is a joke. In reality it is a purposeful inculturalization of the hindu way of life to reach out more for conversion.
Saint Thomas never came 52 AD. What did he preach then when the new testament itself came into existence only around 4th century. Its the biggest Hoax.
We should do a radio carbon dating of the 71/2 churches allegedly found by St. Thomas to prove that they existed for the last 2K years.

If you look in the Ancient Jewish Customs and Rituals, you can see lot of similarities with Hindu rituals such as Deeparadana and Sandya Vandanam. The Basic construction of the hindu Temple and Ancient Churches and Jewish Temple are Based on a Human Laying down head to the east. okay, i read something about it, saint thomas brings the christian religion to you (Apostel Thomas), so, by our site, yes, you are fully accepted christians orthodox community,
my very best greetings to our orthodox brothers in pathanapuram, kerala ;)
@saamuel101 This is not accurate.Upper caste hindus??.NO way!!.Too little research put into this. You wonder why your name is Samuel ?? ,and most of us have ISraelite names?..wonder why Jesus told the disciples GO and preach to the lost sheep of Israel?..and is it surprisign that Thomas came to Malabar?.Out of the upper class hindus is such a bogus claim and is an abuse on the heritage of the Nasrani Menorah, the liturgy, the Jewish pessahah and everything that we stand for!!.
@ORTHODOXPRIDE No,not all Syrian Christians are Orthodox.Syrian Christian -the name is because the syro malabar church uses Syriac/Armaic as its officially liturgy. How Armaic?.Because most of the church is a result of Jewish settlers marrying Keralite woman from the time Solomons temple.Thomas came and he preached the gospel-not orthodoxy or Catholicism. On later influence Syro Malabar churches absorbed in orthodoxy,Catholicism,Stand alonism etc...all with the common Jewish ancestory.
New and improved groups & sects arised out of the ideas of Vivekananda, the saibabas, the chisthis.Christ did have many agendas, good ones such as .."love thy enemies..etc.Only philosophers w/out agendas only lived in Hellenstic times.
St. Thomas never came to India. IF he did , then there cannot be his gospel. There is no proof that jesus propounded christianity. he was just a jewish teacher. he did not have agenda. no great philosopher like jesus can have an agenda. pure and simple. Buddha never had intention to create a religion. they only have philosophies.
Why can't he make his point? Are you sane to believe what ever has been told to you by religious radicals? You are being controlled and brain washed by fundamentalists. Christianity was formed on a base story in middle east on freeing slavery. Do not forget the whole base of christianity is still on "slavery". Your religious leaders have made you a slave by injecting fear, insecurity and false promises.
what the heck are u talking about.....I dont have to fight or argue with u.....we believe in one True God, and our Holy book Bible.....our religious leaders have not injected fear, insecurity or false promises. maybe u do not know anything about Bible..............
I have read it full. I have seen the world as it is too, travelled and have a passion for life. When you say "we", you are talking about you and your fundamental believes. Obsessed with "so called believes"
relax yaar, let Him think what He thinks, it is right that Jesus came to set the slaves free, and we are in some way or the other slaves to something or the other, Jesus came that we may enjoy freedom, but people always make a religion out of everything. if you enjoy and value life, that is pretty much what Jesus came to teach in a deeper way which even goes beyond what we see life as. Just relax
yaar when you are in a pit your world is confined to that omini circles you can see and reach. No one is trying to make any point to those in the pit, but if they try to take it our to the society n inject, opposition is there only. we don't get fooled agin
that was retarded. the flagpost. yes. the lamp. yes. the thali. yes.
but besides that all the other traditions are syrian based. now you can say that the syrians came to India and copied the hindus and went back but that would just be, you know, retarded. The parallels in the form of worship is completly coincidental.
The parallels mentioned with liturgical worship are merely coincidental. The form of worship of the Nasranis is of Syriac origin and connections made with "offering of flowers" is during Palm Sunday (listen to worshippers saying Ooshana/Hosanna) to re-enact the procession of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and the hand movements of the priest and the use of bells are according to the rubrics of the Syriac liturgy. The Syriac liturgy brought to the Nasranis is the same as their sister Syriac Church.
It would be wrong to interpret that Syrian Christians inherited rituals from Hindus, because the word Hindu itself is a recent invention compared to centuries of peaceful mutual coexistence of Christians and all other communities. The common elements we see today must have had an evolutionary path common to all communities rather than one adopting from the other. Kerala was a plural society and will remain one.
its interesting to see how you have drawn parallels between the Syrian Christians and Hindus. However, the uniqueness of the Syrian Christan community perhaps is not owing to a few of these rituals, but to the strong Syriac lineage and traditions. The depictions in the video is a very narrow view of a community with a rich heritage!
You are right. This video has portrayed the christian community in Kerala in a very narrow way. As if though the christians were one group. The history of the christians is much more complex than this and it's not just one group. There were many different migrations to kerala over an extended period of time. For example, they didn't talk about the syrian christians that migrated from modern day iraq to kerala in the 9th century or the many other migrations.
God Bless
