  • Poor dragon. :/

  • whhhhhhy!!?? :'-(

  • Sory for double posting, but what program did you use? (i'm guessing photoshop, but ive never seen those polygon shades before. If its photoshop then what feature or function is that called? If not then what program did you use? Thanks :) )

  • @sanj091 yeah, it's just photoshop. I just made those cube-spheres as a sample color palette.

  • You are a wonderful artist sir, I love your style! You managed to give your characters an accurate anatomy and instill them with a whymsical/cartoony style. This is just so adorable, yet sad at the same time.

  • Oh my god!!! this is magical!!!

    Thank you for sharing!!!

  • That's sad I bet that dragon and that girl had some good times together:(

  • witch photoshop do you use to draw..>?

  • this picture has a hole story behind it

  • sorry cant comment. this comment is more then 3 months old.

  • mammals fail herps rule the earth!

  • draconic people take their passion seriously to the point that saying something like that will offend them. I don't know why they are like that because i am a dragon fanatic yet i play a game where the point is to kill dragons with weapons and tis really brutal yet i dont mind. dragons only exist in the imagination. Get over it people!

  • who on earth would downrate that comment? thats hilarious

  • Beautiful picture, but for peace of mind I'd love to also see one where the girl and the dragon are cuddling up together to relax.

  • Great!

  • AHHH!

    D:

  • beautiful, some music would be nice though.

  • sad but beautiful..

  • Can I ask why you draw those orbs?

  • Looks like they are used to have a guide for light and shadow. They give the direction and the saturation depending on how far into the shadow something is.

  • do one of eragon from the eragon movie hugging saphirra, his dragon.

  • Ugh, I hope not, that movie sucks.

  • I know. the book wuz better.

  • Wow, that was extremely amazing.

But it would've been much funner to watch with music.

    :(

  • only if it was music you liked, xilovekornx. In your case I would assume some kind of metal ?? Great painting.

  • Your assumption is only half right.

Yes, I do like metal, but I also enjoy other music (like Enya, Rihanna, Crystal Castles, T.a.t.u., etc.), and obviously other music besides metal would fit into a video better like this one.

Thanks for assuming I only liked metal.

    :/

  • amazing, u rly brought that scene to life, i'm in tears.

  • Beautiful!!! It actually just about brought me to tears... I could feel her anguish, her sorrow, her love. Simply amazing. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

  • nice work 5/5

  • not bad it looks like the dragon is still alive or she is crying 4 his wounds

  • no she's trying to give him CPR. but she's not strong enough to push chest down ,so she's crying.

  • tip: when you do the value sphere and cube increase the saturation as u go into the shadow and decrese it in the highlights. generally gives much better lighting.

  • first time I see the value spheres how do you set em up ?

  • just shade a simple sphere or a cube first, then use it to pick the right value based on the angle. it helps setting the range of values you want to work with and gives you a little preview of what the color will look like with those values..

its particularly helpful if you're shading complex shapes that need more than 3 values

  • thats kool but it would be even better if there was some music

  • exactly what I was thinking.

  • Amazing work. Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked the use of the sphers and box to guide your light and shadow. Briliant

    JED

  • u do this with a mouse?

  • No this has got to be done with a tablet.

  • omg that's so sad. she looks like she was in love with the dragon and died protecting her or something.

  • Nice painting! Are you using the sphere and the cube to sample from for shading, or just as a general light direction?

  • Luuntliu I shal miss you my dear friend, goodbuy you were fine the way you were but you still gave your life for mine...

    finish the story

  • Great job! I can imagine if the dragon was fine, what it would say: "You're kneeling on my wing."

  • AWESOME!! u r GREAT!!

  • WOW FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • whats the 3d shape things? my photoshop lacks it

  • wow! beautifully done!

  • awsome!

  • UR ROX MAN!

  • WoW Awesome !!!!!!!!!

    Thank You

  • that was really cool but c'mon a dragon that dies from 4 arrows? :P

  • twell if you read about dragons u could no that they could die of one sword slash to the chest cuz they have no bones there i no dragons arent real but i lika to no about em :)

  • lol

  • What program are you using?... I notice those shape/palettes floating up top. I've never seen that.

  • dude he drew them himself

  • joebluhm: The video's title says Photoshop...

  • i thnk ts more fun to watch hand drawn time lapse videos, but i usually like the ending image in digital painting. but this was just crazy so 5*

  • Beautiful.

  • it's sad :(

  • link to image doesnt work BTW

  • Thanks, I fixed it.

Thanks to all for your comments.

  • totally sweet. it's so sad and beautiful at the same time:) would love that pic on my wall:)

  • LOL ElectricAsylumArt,Macpulenta & Pimpofpixels are the best with photoshop and great rivals....Impressive as usual!

  • that is real talen BRAVo Awesome painted

  • Beautiful. I just subscribed! I asked this in your "end of the world" painting, so u don't have to answer again - but how do you do time laps capture? thanks. And amazing work - I really enjoy watching this!

  • how much time?

  • impressive wow

  • only one suggestion, if you post another video... put in sum sort of classical or electronic music to it, becouse you got the drawing part perfected, just gotta grab that lil bit of attention that is lingering in the back of my mind

  • Smack me if Im wrong, but your technique is superb. The quality in your development of the art work is incredible from the sketch to the final coloring. I know it can be difficult to paint in photoshop and other programs, and getting colors can be tricky, but your art work is piece for talent and just down right amazement! Bravo!

    -Aaron

  • GREAT, did you use reference images?...i realy like it. congrats.

  • the sphere and cube technique is awsome man

  • Thanks, you're quite right and I'm aware of this problem, and I think I've been getting better about it. I was taught not to use black for shadows when I learned to paint as well, and I'm still struggling to figure out a good way to emulate it in photoshop. I intend to redo this drawing at some point to fix that problem. However, I don't see a reason that the spheres technique couldn't incorporate colored light and shadow though. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for trying to help.

  • Find color palets online for photoshop. Basically it is just circles of the colors to use. Or make your own. Find a old master you like, then sample colors off that and then adjust them a tad to be more saturated.

  • too good

  • Damn

  • nice

  • awesome!!

  • Wow. That's awesome. Never seen anyone use a sphere and cube to sample colours off of before.
