  • Great to see Willie Dixon on this one - too much !

  • Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest rock bands. But they stole a few Willie Dixon songs in their first three albums. The more famous: "Whole lotta love" first recorded by Muddy Waters and "Bring it on home" first recorded by Sonny Boy Williamson II. Willie Dixon had lawyers, went to Court and the Zep boys had to pay for their "free adaptations of his (Dixon) material". The payed a lot lot of money in a off court agreement. It was justice being made.

  • I was lucky enough to see this same outfit in the 70's

  • What dickhead disliked this!

  • i didnt know that's so awesome !

  • failure to mention WILLIE DIXON~the poet of the blues!~on funky bass

  • Omg thats amazing, very, but very very GOOD!

  • this tour came to the black forest, first time i saw the blues (I feelt).

Nevwe forget tis, never ever - thanks for posting

  • yah thats an A harp.

  • The first song is Count Basie's "One O'Clock Jump." Walter's song list always included this on every show I did with him the 1970's; he was remarkably consistent. Today, I and thousands of other harpists play this song because of Big Walter.

  • Big Walter king of blues harp!!! If it takes all my life i want play at least half as good as Big Walter>>>

  • I love this broooos

  • @ MrLange....sounds like an "A" harp.

  • anybody know what key of harp he's using?

  • thanx again sonnyboy3. You've supplied harpomatic inspiration!! lovin it

  • Amazing is a damn understatment!!!!

He is well above any thing that is only termed good, great or amazing!

  • The amazing thing is that he plays from the heart ... each note is from the heart ... he sticks to nothing ... he just play the bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuues !!!

  • What can I say? Superb.

  • there's only one word for these kind of sounds : original, unique. These people can teach any musician of today and before you can reach them, the're already ahead of you !

  • SPEECHLESS (ALMOST) FANTASTIC STUFF

  • I think he is better than Sonny boy II .

  • Nice ! is it Lafayette Leak on piano ?

  • @jjmilteau - Yes. That's Lafayette Leake on piano.

  • This tour came to Darlington. I was there aged 14, it changed my life, no shit.

  • I really can believe mate!

  • @MrSugarharp Sweet! So many of these great blues legends recorded in Copenhagen in those years. I live there (here) now, but unfortunately, I was born a couple years late for this gig :(

  • Some of the best blues footage out there...what feel. They are on fire! Lee Jackson is simply amazing here.

  • Ya wonder where Led Zepplin, The Who, and Eric Clapen, etc. got their lessons... Well here it is...........Although Jimi took it to another level.

  • @aerosmythe Well Jimi was from America, and grew up listening to the blues, while Clapton, Page, and Townshend had to learn it from records rather than being able to go to the nearest juke joint to listen to it, so I guess Jimi had a bit of a head start to take it to a different place since it was basically in his blood from early childhood :)

  • @willwelsh816 yes in fact jimi played in a lot of blues bands, he worked as slim harpo sideman

  • @aerosmythe With Zep it wasn't just lessons, they stole most of if, unbelievable, but I can now admit that it be true!!

  • Blues with a feelin' for the Danes!!!

  • Lee Jackson is so good here.

  • Yes, yes!!

  • Anybody know where this is available,i know its afbf stuff but its not on the recent dvds, there just has to be another dvd of afbf [please "reelin in the years"] of as yet not released material.ie this one, jb lenoir, chicago blues allstars, and more [if your into this you will know who i mean]...thankyou for reading this...

  • This music makes my day big Thanks!!

  • thats tone

  • i dont know what do with myself when i hear this kind of music i try shuffle shake my head i get so excited i want to fight some one crazy

  • love Big Walter's Swagger, cheers for the quality upload, safe

  • Great upload! Thanks for posting this

  • thats it, i'm practicing every day now

  • big walter its the michael jordan of harp he got every single thing hes a monster

  • that its TONE BABY

  • @casu3 Aint you right! Tone all day :)

  • I love that, at 3:54, Big Walter uses the riff from Little Walter's "Juke". It's so great to see how the greats influenced one another, "comping" each others material to increase their own individual bag of tricks. Collaboration was more important that competition. Those were the days!

  • @OmniphonProductions Yeah sometimes the Teacher uses the student's riffs.

  • Wow, what a find, ultra rare blues footage

  • Was the American folk blues festival in Europe?

  • is that WIllie Dixon on Bass?

  • i was about to ask the same thing.. looks like it is

  • yeah!!

  • Yep

  • @vonhorn29 That is absolutely the great Willie Dixon on bass.

  • I believe thats the PA BW is using and he sounds like BW...ppl say the his hands made him...WRONG...they contribute but that wasnt it. Remember Sonny Boy Williamson II had very large hands like BW, but didnt sound alike. Its the play and these(BW & Sonny Boy II) are among my top favorites.

  • DANG!!!

    Sooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Big Walter is the MAN...love Little Walter too, but BW moves me more. Every one is cool and slick in this...

  • Big Walter is the best damn harp player to have ever lived! Pure genius!

  • @BbMarineBand .....AGREED!!!!

  • Yeah! :-D
