Your video inspired me to go backpacking on this very loop. Although, I was not at all prepared for the first day. There should be some kind of warning about that!! I've posted a video on my page. Thanks so much for this! I had a blast!!
@APretender Hi - I have been posting videos for years always wishing other folks would get inspired to do that same thing. You have made countless of editing hours a reward ! Thank you and I'm glad you went. I absolutely love this trip and is top five of years of backpacking. thanks. I'm on my way to check out your video...
jkddaddy - thanks for the nice comments, "red sky in the morning, sailor's warning" that was a sunrise picture and by 10am the skies opened up with a fury. The panorama shots are stitched right in the camera - did not crop them, I use the highest resolution and setting camera allows... I want to backpack Grand Tetons this year in August, will see if I can make that a reality.
some nice photography pictures in there; I especially like the few with the colorfully lit clouds. Many of the panorama shots caught my attention too. Are those multiple stiched images or cropped? (not much of a difference at this resolution! but curious)
did similiar trip in mid 70's except went cross country to bridger lakes up to elbow and pretty much same route as you back to elkhart. did it twice but experience says stick to the trails as cross country is ROUGH! trip of a lifetime! twice! unbelievably good fishing in WILD surroundings. you want to experience the epitome of wilderness in the lower 48. GO THERE but be fit and be prepared, physically and equiptmentwise. and go in late summer unless you want to backpack on skis
Awesome video...we pretty much did the same loop the first week of August last year.Mosquitos and flies were savage but luckily one guy brought a mosquito net(thank you Campmor)...lol Had beautiful weather throughout the week with a nasty thunderstorm our last day on the way out.Stopped at the Wind River Brewing Co in Pinedale for the best prime rib and pint(s) of Porter of the year.
@shatteredgnome thanks I total hear you on thebugs !!!! The area has so many other trips to do... further north its grizzly country I hear... Brewing co? wow how could I have missed that !!!! thanks and glad you liked the video.... regards..eb
I love this loop. To bad that the forest service has abandoned maintenance of the trail rising from Long lake to Glimpse lake. Did this loop in July also, a lot of snow, lost the trail between Jean and Little Seneca lake, but got great views of the length of Island lake as a result. Recommend a short side trip (1/4 mile to the west) from Fremont bridge to "The big water slide" awesome sound and power of water. Preppier for 32 deg night temps and hang food (saw 1 bear backside). Great vid.
.....thanks...added as a favorite.

Why the music? I'd like to hear the sounds of nature in the places you hiked through.

Such a beautiful loop. I go the other way though, I prefer a lighter pack for that killer descent and climb between Glimpse and the trailhead.

Be ready for bugs, all weather, get maps, we like getting the tougher hike at the beginning instead of end of trip. Enjoy and take lots of pictures.

great video. I am planning on going to this area for about a week in July/August time frame. Any advice?
