Wow. 4 nuclear warheads dropped so close to eachother and there wasnt even a SINGLE SHOCKWAVE.. Just some dust flying... It's like they were dropping dynamite, not nuclear bombs. And where are the craters? :D The bombing ended, but the damage is so minimal..
Because nukes have vastly varying yields. Research it. I've seen bazooka-like tactical nukes that yield .9 or lower KT, as well as giant bombs that deal out 50 MT.
The reason the nukes are so underpowered and don't destroy buildings is because A) The entire map would be destroyed if they made them as powerful as RL nukes, B) It is highly unlikely that any computer or console could process a non-cinematic nuclear explosion (CoD 4's nuke was a part of a cinematic, so it can be handled.) and C) It would take freaking forever to program realistic destruction for every single object.
@Presidentjh Technically, there are tactical nukes. While still quite powerful they were meant to be used on the battlefield. The weakest load for 1 of them is I believe 1 kiloton. (Not that I know how much that is because I'm not that great with metrics)
@Presidentjh Il-2: 1946 has a realistic nuke mod out. Drop it on a city, base whatever and everything is destroyed... Fly by after the smoke clears and all the buildings are destroyed and trees laid over. It will actually knock your plane out of the sky if you aren't far enough away when it blows.
Whats more, is that the blast/damage radius is actually true to life, based off of the early Little Boy/Fat Man bombs. Yeah, it can kill FPS, but a i7 processor can handle it well.

The real damage from a nuke isn't so much the explosion (which is big), but rather the radiation that it leaves afterwards, that radiation cloud kill hundreds of thousands more in time, and with no warning which is worse.
Very poor realism as the nuke explosions have very little thermal and shockwave effect. The explosions look beautiful, but their effects are not real-life.

In a sense, this is more realistic than not. In a full scale nuclear exchange several nukes would hit cities (in spite of how ridiculous the concept of one not being 'enough' is). I've read that some cities have every train crossing targeted.

Wow. 4 nuclear warheads dropped so close to eachother and there wasnt even a SINGLE SHOCKWAVE.. Just some dust flying... It's like they were dropping dynamite, not nuclear bombs. And where are the craters? :D The bombing ended, but the damage is so minimal..

Because nukes have vastly varying yields. Research it. I've seen bazooka-like tactical nukes that yield .9 or lower KT, as well as giant bombs that deal out 50 MT.

The reason the nukes are so underpowered and don't destroy buildings is because A) The entire map would be destroyed if they made them as powerful as RL nukes, B) It is highly unlikely that any computer or console could process a non-cinematic nuclear explosion (CoD 4's nuke was a part of a cinematic, so it can be handled.) and C) It would take freaking forever to program realistic destruction for every single object.

@Presidentjh Technically, there are tactical nukes. While still quite powerful they were meant to be used on the battlefield. The weakest load for 1 of them is I believe 1 kiloton. (Not that I know how much that is because I'm not that great with metrics)

@Presidentjh Il-2: 1946 has a realistic nuke mod out. Drop it on a city, base whatever and everything is destroyed... Fly by after the smoke clears and all the buildings are destroyed and trees laid over. It will actually knock your plane out of the sky if you aren't far enough away when it blows.
Whats more, is that the blast/damage radius is actually true to life, based off of the early Little Boy/Fat Man bombs. Yeah, it can kill FPS, but a i7 processor can handle it well.

The real damage from a nuke isn't so much the explosion (which is big), but rather the radiation that it leaves afterwards, that radiation cloud kill hundreds of thousands more in time, and with no warning which is worse.
