morrowind, diablo2 (and lod), james pond 3, sonic 1, tiny toon, hexen, land (or castle) of illusion, fantasia, heroes of might and magic 3, ..there.. are just too many games that were just AMAZING, too many to name them all that is. you never have too many good games :P especially not these times
Interestingly enough, the Mega Drive used a 16-bit sound chip yes, but the SNES had such superior sound because it had a 32-bit sound chip, which made it far better in the sound department.
I think cartridges are still better than CDs. It seems. Cartridges last forever. CDs get scratched up, glitch and die. My NES/SNES and Sega games still work as perfectly as the day I got them. But I've lost so many CDs due to scratching and whatnot.
omg you jus brought back kick ass memories for me with this game I use to watch my bro play this all the time with this game back when we were little I'm 18 now and I was like 6 I think oh total nostalgia for me
I grew up in the in-between times of classic games and more recent games but my best childhood memories are of playing NES and SNES games with my sister for hours on end. XD
Helloween, surely your forgetting another classic that is super ghouls n ghosts? It was tedious, repetitive and frankly cruel, but my god what a game.
I'll probably keep all my old systems for my kids.
Halo, pfttt.... I'm raising my kids on olden days SEGA and Nintendo. I'm keeping my Genisis and Dreamcast for that purpose alone as the first game I ever played was Sonic Adventure and I don't know what would have happened if I had never played that. I was blown away by how great the 3-D was.
Anway I digress the new generations are really missing out.
3,556 million yes old. He created "god" and that crapped out the earth and a mortal body for helloween, and told "god" to tell mortal helloween to be british and make LPs.
@GreatlyLovable I know, and thanks for not going apeshit crazy at me or anything, theres just something about people calling the English British that infuriates me.
I much much much much prefer it when they call us by our individual countrys, eg; people from England English, people from N. Ireland Northern Irish, people from Wales Welsh etc.
I shit you not, i once read a post from an American who thought that Scotland was England, England was Britain and N. Ireland was Scotland.
I'm borned 1995 and I played SNES all the fucking time along with playstation 1 a few times and some really really fucking old PC DOS games lol! I miss Windows 95
Zelda was my first game, I played it with my dad. Good times! but now I know all the secrets so its a bit simple to play it over. I already did it 5 times already.
Nice video btw I never saw castlevania ( the old ones)
I have never in my life enjoyed halo for a second, i grew up on games like the neverhood and all the nintendo games like Mario and Zelda.
I've heard of Castlevania, but i've never played the game. The first console we got was the n64.
And about that spider with a gasmask in Cryostasis, did you notice that it was that scary gas mask man? Those weird legs had just grown out of his back!
I grew up with NES and SNES but I've never seen this game XD All of my older generation games are stereotypical girl/kiddie games. I hadn't heard of Castlevania until it came out on the DS a few years ago.
I've heard of the castlevania series but mostly the main ones like this one but i havent heard of the DS and GBA ones. Im lucky i haven't heard of the 64 one until AVGN mentioned it
i wasnt around for SNES or NES, my first console when i was 4 was the N64, loved it, and when i was uh 8 i got a Gameboy Colour, they were amazing when i had them and when PS2 came out i was like "pffft, my n64 works just fine." for like 12 years i had that N64 and it still worked when my parents got rid of it. all 3 of my PS2's broke after 4 years.
it was such a great game but castlevania 2 "simon's quest" was so terrible, it turned me off the franchise until i got portrait of ruin on the DS which i loved....
Ahh the SNES...good memories. God I feel old now. But for SNES I'll live with that feeling with pride! Fair due to Megadrive as well, the original Sonic was something else.
The music in old games was a gazillion times more awesome because it had to be. You heard it all the time, along with like 30 other sound "effects". Today games endlessly talk to you, set to two-note ominous "music" among 300 different kind of explosion sounds.
Actually he said he got Castlevania Adventure for Gameboy, Castlevania Rebirth is just a remake of that but improved. The original game has bad jumping puzzles, and a whip that got downgraded when you got hit. Not very good :(
A quick note about the map, it shows you where you are going, and not where you are right now. At the end of level two you go down a river. Where the dots start is where the last level ended. Probly figured this out, but just sayin'.
I find it a bit depressing that few people know what some of these old games were like, and even more depressing that it's all about blood and guns now.
Games like this and my childhood game Dark chronicle (aka dark cloud 2) have relatively bad graphics, but they were so good!
Hey that's an idea, Helloween you should try Dark Chronicle, it's not a horror game, but it's AWESOME!
morrowind, diablo2 (and lod), james pond 3, sonic 1, tiny toon, hexen, land (or castle) of illusion, fantasia, heroes of might and magic 3, ..there.. are just too many games that were just AMAZING, too many to name them all that is. you never have too many good games :P especially not these times

@TheThreadWeaver: Its an old claymation puzzle game from 1996, and in my opinion the best game ever made. And the soundtrack was amazing!
If you haven't heard of it, you've really missed something. Look it up, and if you can you should get it.

Aw I was hoping you were gonna spare us from more Cryostasis.
