Gundam Wing was one of the very 1st gundam animes I ever watched in my life.

At the time, I thought it was amazing. Now a days, Gundam Wing is still pretty good, but it's flaws are A LOT more visible once you're old enough to understand them as opposed to watching it as a kid.

Now a days, there are WAY better gundam animes out there than Wing, but regardless, Gundam Wing's still always got a place in my heart. =)

I have never heard of Favreau. But Pans Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies. That being said, I am skeptical that ANYONE can make a good live action adaptation of an anime...so I guess its not that I wouldn't want it to happen, I'm just not sure if its possible or not...And I guess the only way to see if it is possible is to wait for it to happen. There was supposed to be a Cowboy Bebop movie being made, but i think it was cancelled or something.

@Tartersauce101 To be fair, the beauty of Mobile Suit Gundam is that you could quite easily have creative freedom as most MSG series are their own stand alone thing with only a few reused themes (namely, SPACE AND GIANT ROBOTS). You couldn't really do that with DBZ, it was already a variation of a tale to begin with, varying with that again was just a ridiculous idea.

@darksword101 I've actually looked at on-line scans of it and the summary thus far. It's interesting, but sounds like something from a late 90s-early 2000s gundam fanfiction forum. I would take it with a grain of salt anyway. I recently rewatched GW on DVD for the first time since it was on Toonami and honestly... it doesn't hold up very well beyond nostalgia goggles. It's just not as good as I remember it being.

@darksword101 If you're referring to Gundam Wing: Glory of the Losers and Frozen Teardrop, you're partly right. GL is an AU retelling of the TV series which leads to the events of FT. In other words, the last minutes of Episode 49 and Endless Waltz never happen because Heero and Relena are put into suspended animation for nearly 30 years.

Anyway, the creators of the anime say that most of both are Alternate Reality, so there you go.

The robot fights are cool and all, but without the amazing dialog between the characters, the dialog that is exploring each characters' motivations, ideals, and the political ramifications for those ideals, the show would just become mindless, and that's most definitely NOT what anime needs nowadays.

Gundam Wing, Dragonball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne.

These are the shows I think of whenever people criticise anime. The shows that remind me and everyone else how good they can be.

The golden age of anime was brief, but by God was it worth living through.

While Duo may not be the "best" pilot in this series, I believe strongly that he is the greatest. He's the most balanced and emotionally accessible character as he is able to provide moments of sheer badassness, critical comic relief, and emotional tenderness without looking contrived. He's without question the most "human" of every character in the entire series, pilot or not. I felt for him more than any other character, and would literally cheer when he emerged on-screen.
