PER is Player Efficiency Rating. Google it to better understand the formula used. PER is the most accurate tool used to determine a players true value. Regarding your comment that Carter shoots under 45%. Hedo has only shot 45% in a season twice in his entire career. VC on the other hand has shot 45% or above 7 times in his career. Hedo has done it twice in the past 5 seasons VC has done it 3 times in the past 5 seasons. The other 2 for VC were 43% & 44%. Hedo they were 41% & 42% twice.
No PER is not PPG. It a statistical model used to try and evaluate playrs. It's not perfect, but a 6.3 gap in PER is massive.
I don't even know why you're bringing up shooting %'s when Carter's the more efficient scorer, and he does that while having to take more shots. If Carter was onyl a 16ppg scorer like Turk his efficency would destroy him.
