I love the first song Glen Campbell sings while walking around on the property. My family went to Disney World for the first time in April, 1972. I have gone at least 15 times since then and are planning our next trip for early December, 2012! I can't wait!!
Even to this day, no one has matched this place in terms of family entertainment. Like Sesame Street, which came out around the same time, it is a constant that's ready to excite each new generation even as characters come and go.
The anniversary date of Oct 1 is also my mother's birthday, which reminds me of my first visit to Disney World back in the early '80s. At the time I was about to enter kindergarten in a few months or so. The visit was indeed quite a thrill as I expected. The most unforgettable part of the experience was when I tried to run up to the stage for Mickey Mouse at a live performance held outside the castle and how my dad chased me to take me back to the audience seating area!
i like the songs i am so excited about walt disney world i am going to be forty just like here and for my birthday this is where i am going i am going for 9 days i am so happy in four weeks i will be here
Man this brings back good memories. Every Sunday night the family all watched this. Now.. No more family, No more country.. Everything has been given away.
I remember watching this when it first aired in 1971. I was 9 years old and I couldn't wait to go. 4 years later, my parents finally gave in we began a nearly annual WDW tradition that is still going on today.
This makes makes me sad. Walt never saw his dream, and what's worse is they didn't complete it in the way he wanted *cough cough* Epcot. It's really off putting to not have the Partners Statue there. It's so bare!
@BroadwayGirl1300 more of walts dreams may have not been seen by his eyes, but like he says, disneyland will never be complete when there is imagination left in the world, that goes for florida also, so be proud
@BroadwayGirl1300 Don't dwell on the dreams that haven't come true yet. And they got kind of close to Walt's original dream of Epcot; you have the promise of the future on one side, and the cultures of the world coming together to promote international good relations on the other side.
@OKI2314xREMIX I love Epcot! I think it's fabulous. It just isn't what Walt wanted. He invisioned an actual communnity, not another theme park. That said, Epcot does incorporate a lot of great elements that Walt would have loved.

It's the 40th anniversary of Disney World, and as someone who visited the resort many times as a child, I would like to say congratulations.

Why doesn't Disney or anyone else make shows like this anymore? It's a shame it's all reality shows and trash now!

Was this before or after Julie Andrews starred in Mary Poppins?

.....They played this on the Disney Channel..... nowadays, they would never show anything like this on that network.
...That's pretty sad.

It's so jarring to see the developed part of the property so sparse and with itty bitty trees! And I love Julie's dress!
