i dont get the phish thing, and im a pro musician who likes to just jam sometimes.it seems to me they have been lifted up to superstar status by a generation of potheads who have no musical standards.i mean just because you can essentially play a song doesnt mean you should.these guys sound like a second rate barband and nothing else.oh and btw,im an old pothead from the dead days and i didnt get their aimless ramblings either.if you want to listen to quality jamming at pro level ,try LITTLE FEAT
@virtualjones YOU'RE A PRO MUSICIAN??? wow you definitely know what youre talkin bout... actually you dont know. dont go around calling them not talented when you have no clue about the band or understand them at all. 2003-04 were quite difficult years overall for the band and trey was dealing with drug problems. not exactly great years to make judgments about them. still they've stood the test of time. together for about 25 years now and will be in the HOF when its all said and done
@Vinsanity15814 Im sorry, you're right ,hell, they might even be better than the beatles.Im probably just looking at this thing the wrong way.Playing instruments and being able to sing are highly overrated skills anyway, and as long as people judge you on how cool they perceive you to be and not you're actual talent theres no reason that they shouldnt end up in the hall along side other greats like RUN DMC -JAYZEE-AND KANYE.lolololololololollmmfao
Everyone saying this version of Jungle Boogie by Phish "sucks" is absolutely correct. The voices are weak, whiny, unmelodic and just utterly annoying. They tried to "rock out" the music and just made the song sound even worse. Phish gets an F for ineffective effort.
@outrundaylite I don't think people that write comments like this really understand Phish. It's all about the fun, and these moments at Phish shows, are SO MUCH FUN!
everyone who wasn't at these shows and is commenting on this version of jungle boogie, saying it sucks, obviously has no fucking clue! This was the start of the 9th set they played that weekend. 8 out of the 9 sets were superb. It was obvious that the band was partying down for the last set. "jungle boogie" was played so they could get the car onto the stage with the marching band as part of the new years gag. it wasn't meant to be a note for note perfect version. Stop being douchefuck critics!
good post. you must have been sitting a few rows below me. You got any videos of the crazy dancing guy they brought on stage? The guy who might have been "mentally handicap"?
i wasnt there, but a friend tells me there was so much more of this (including tubas and hot cheerleaders and trey dancing w a cheerleader and the stage fills up w the marching band)
i was there, the sound cannot ever sound as if youre there, even on hd. i was throwing balloons and glowsticks from the rafters! it was incredible, we took over miami and the cop were so dang nice to us! we are peaceful people though! blessings and happy travels to all! thanks for posting, i needed the reminder! =0)
I agree... If you were there at the time, you would understand that this was a countdown to the new year. They weren't trying to rip up some sort of mind blowing jam, they were just letting the band get set up.
This was the only show I missed in that new years run. So I had to get the audio. All four nights were killer. After the first night I was wondering, there's no way they can top that. But the nights just kept getting better. Course NYE was the night they played Mike's Groove....Doh, missed it.
I was there, almost show. Was there for 3 of the 4 nights, never forget walking in and hearing the beginning of "Wilson" when everyone says "Wiiillllllssssooooonnnnn" and then walking into the actual arena right as they began to tear it up. Was the best concerts I have ever been to.
For those of us who were there, a truly memorable moment. The icing on the cake, if you will, of one of the last great Phish runs before their departure
I am not pompous. I am a classical guitar major and in about 3 musical groups. I have attended phish concerts since I was 11 until they broke up for the last time when I was 19. Every cover I have heard them do I have enjoyed. I like their originals as well. I am not sure of you have picked up trey's 2 solo works but they are awesome. Shine is a bit better in my opinion though. Didn't mean to come off as a jerk I am just saying from my point of view STUDYING MUSIC PERFORMANCE it was fine

Phish are decent players, but that was sloppy and the vocals sucked.

Wow! I used to think that you couldn't screw up a good song no matter how bad you are... this clip destroyed that notion.

Umm when you have the musical genius of Trey Anastasio you can tell him what to do. Until then you can continue being a scrub.
