They edited this because Wahoo's eyeball popped out. He lost his eye that day. I fell out and fatso stepped on it. Wahoo wrestled for years with a glass eyeball. I knew Wahoo, because he lived next to us in the trailor park. He used to practice his chops on me. It hurt, but he was Wahoo. Then we would smoke the peacepipe together and I would feel better. Other than missing his eyeball, Wahoo had false teeth too. Ric Flair knocked then out. I hated when he came over without his teeth in!

I saw this on TV on it's first release. I never used so much profanity as a kid as when I saw this. Then I went to at least 4 "Revenge" matches in the area. That first release was not censored like this and yes, there was blood everywhere.

When it was first shown on TV, it wasn't censored - and it was Grade-A nasty. You could see Abdullah digging that gimmick into Wahoo and blood was everywhere. The Crocketts had to apologize to the affiliates and they almost lost quite a few important TV stations.

What's hilarious is the delayed reaction by Caudle...'here comes Piper and somebody else'. Keeping in mind that Abby was one of the most recognizable heels of the kayfabe era. All of a sudden the light goes off over Crockett's head "that's Abdullah the Butcher!"

Caudle was great but Crockett is up there with Vince McMahon and Michael Cole as some of the worst announcers ever.

This was my first time seeing Abdullah the Butcher and he scared the hell out of me as a kid. I was really scared for Wahoo when they signed to wrestle.

This was Abdullah's gimmick. A heel would never be able to cleanly beat the face, so he would bring Abdullah in as a hit man. This was one of the bloodiest that I ever saw on Mid-Atlantic. Wahoo & Piper were to meet on World Wide for the US Title. Piper had a stipualation that if Wahoo didn't show up, he would be stripped of the belt. Well, you can guess what happened.

you're exactly right,ccie,and the Richmond,Va affiliate was WTVR Channel 6 on which the broadcast was aired and also in Norfolk,Va on WAVY TV. I had nightmares after that incident and i was around 13 or 14 when the match took place.

I was about 14 and had seen a few live MACW cards, but I never saw anyone bleed like Wahoo did that day - not to mention the up-close camera angle. As I said in another post, Richmond, VA's WTVR almost threw Crockett Promotions off the air in the ensuing uproar.

IIRC, Abdullah didn't stay long. I know he fought Wahoo at the long-gone Richmond Arena once after this with Wahoo winning.
