  • However, you might get interested in Alexander Vertinsky. He was a great Russian poet, singer and actor. Soon after the Revolution he emigrated to Germany, and then to Hollywood where he played in several silent movies. I don't know exactly if they are still available, but I hope they are. Vertinsky was a man of many talents.

  • Ah good! Thank you very much! I've heard from a russian friend, that there is a very interesting old film about the Csar Ivan, do you know it?

  • No, I don't, unfortunately. I have seen 'The Waxworks' though, where Conrad Veidt plays the part of Czar Ivan the Terrible. It is a splendid movie.

  • Furthermore, every movie starring Conrad Veidt is a masterpiece! He was a genius! No one else could convey feelings as he did!

  • Well, what else can i say? You're right! C.Veidt is my favourite actor. First time i saw him in a movie, it was in Dr. Caligari... and i loved his perfomance. That's why later, i decided to watch to all of his movies!

  • I saw him for the first time in 'Different from the Others' (1919), and when I did, I thought that he was the greatest man I had ever casted my eyes on. I still have many movies with him to watch, including 'The Hands of Orloc', but I can't find them anywhere.

  • Yes, too bad that sometimes is so hard to find such a movies... by the way i've seen that you are russian, have you any russian silent film to suggest me?

  • I am only half-Russian. But no, unfortunately, there are no Russian silent movies worth watching... You see, after the Revolution Russian culture was completely destroyed. To be honest, Russian culture still doesn't exist.

  • Por favor! Pueden decirme quién dirigió y actuó en este film? Me ha encantado!

  • This is a silent film made in 1928 by Paul Leni, the main actor is Conrad Veidt and the main actress is Mary Philbin! It's true, this film is simply wonderfull! The story has been taken from the book of V.Hugo (published in 1869).
