  • What a lovely dog!

  • thank you! i think so:)

  • Haha, I did this with my dog. She stayed calm, until there was a sound outside. It was actually the neighbors car door.

  • put a collar and lead on for doing this as you must have control and be able to keep them with you!

  • i tried this and he started getting annoyed. :) what do i do?

  • Hello - my 14 week old puppy is very nippy (we've tried yelping, he just gets more excited, have tried isolating him for a calm down period, he just plays with his tail or anything in the room & doesn't much notice if we come back in the room, unless it's to start nipping again!) Stroking him is v.hard, he always wants to mouth. Any advice you could offer with this? I'd love to stroke him and calm him, but hands are ripped to ribbons!

  • @HerzogsShoe Watch Kikopups video about mouthing. Theres no yelping or time outs! It teaches the puppy to IGNORE a hand that touches them or waves about in their face.

  • @HerzogsShoe as soon as he goes to mouth ur hand, sternly say NO, remove ur hand turn ur back and use (No Touch, No Talk, No Eye Contact) for a full Minute, it will take awhile for him to catch on and u will have to repeat ALOT but be consistent and it will be rewarding! My puppy had that problem to it was soo annoying but after a 2 weeks to a month he has stopped completely. But most dogs do grow out of it after they get there adult teeth in.

  • @HerzogsShoe I've had the same issue, and I found that providing the puppy with a valuable item (chew toy or treat) to chew on, rather than my hand or my shoes, worked great. I then praise the puppy for chewing on this item. Focus on what you want the pup to do, and not on what you don't want them to do. I think this is what Kikopup advises, and her training methods are the best I've ever seen. Over time, the puppy with naturally start chewing only on the items you want them to.

  • @HerzogsShoe SAME EXACT CASE WITH ME!

  • Avril here, so sorry I had not seen your comment until today, this may be too late for you but keep stroking, if you have a soft collar on you can gently keep the puppy from mouthing you and quietly keep stroking. Correcting the puppy with words or sounds will not help much, just quietly keep going. i will make an effort to find a biting puppy to demo with!

  • what is that Lewis? and happy christmas!!

  • @avrilmunson Yes LoL. You too!

  • AWESOMEEE!

What about the "quaver technique" developed in Manea??
