  • For recording :

I should play 2 times as this guy, load into my pc to 2 or 4 traks , so my drum sound may thicker , or 4 times and record all . I hope Alesis company realize that . ( I am a handicap drummer with one hand ) .

  • Sweet! Alesis should use this guy in all of their video's to market their kits! I want to buy one now;)

  • I have a DM10, love it so much. I bought some cheap mini triggers to use as a splash and a seperate bell. otherwise, the dm10 covers hi hat, crash, ride and china if you want, or a second crash.

  • I'll probably buy this drum kit, but i want to buy an additional cymbal ( china ), is there enough entries to add it?

  • good vid man. I´ve got a question. How do you set up the drum map on addictive drums with cubase?? Sorry for my english I speak spanish :)

  • looks like rock band to me

  • How does he keep the bass from sliding he has hardwood I have tile flooring and can't keep from moving I use a floor mat like a welcome mat but it still slides

  • @APHATMAND try putting something heavy behind it, mainly to help stabilize the bass head . I ended up buying a 5x4 feet rug to through under my kit to keep sliding to a minimum. Also if im not mistaken there should be a few rubber pads at the bottom of the bass head stand.

  • good, but practice is needed! I have this kit and can honestly say it's the best kit I've played on.

  • This Sucks, i hate this kit

  • I got a kinda major q and im certain im not alone on this. Im upgrading to the the DM10 and want to know how to run it with Addictive drums. Could you make a "how to" video showing what all is needed and how everything gets hooked up for other drummers who are making the switch? ("like" if your a drummer also trying to figure this out). If no could you at least point me in the right direction?

  • At first I always complained about the sound of e-drums, but WOW! This is indistinguishable from the real deal in my opinion! :D

  • are you going to do any double bass pedal

  • how do the feel of the heads compare to those of a real kit?

  • Hi!! i have a problem with the snare sound. I play the DM10 in addictive drums without any trouble but when I play the recorded sound the snare is showing diferents kinds of sounds, like rimshot or sidestick, I get different kinds of sound, the type of sound is not continuous.

    Sorry about my english..

  • Are you using a soundcard to reduce the latency?

  • Nice!!!

XM Edrum are holding the XMAS electronic drums competition , and will have chance to win $350 USD XM's coupon ticket ,

    More information please visit wwwxm-worldcom

Or email to kilin@xm-world.com. if have any questions .

  • did it come with 4 heads or 5 cause u have 5 and when i look at pics or anything it has 4?

  • @Littleheat30 Six in total, Snare + 4 toms + bass pad. I added the one on the left beside the hi-hat from my old kit.

  • @Alixbox1723 hey dude i saw u added 1 more pad without using trigger IO, can i use 1 cymbal pad instead 1 more tom pad? i mean using free input that u have

  • do the drum heads realy make alot of sound when u hit them. (when they are turned off)

  • @MegaPatrick118 Yes.

  • @Alixbox1723 How much noise do they make? I'm trying to get an electronic kit for next year when I'm gonna be in an apartment and I'm wondering if these would be fine.

  • @MegaPatrick118 I've tried it also last saturday and was amazed by how load the pads are. Especially the basspad. Also tried the Roland and Yamaha pads and i think that Roland still makes the most quit pads. However the new Yamaha DTX pads are also quit silent.

  • hello i've got the same Edrums and i use AD but i've got a problem with the positions od pads (ex: when i shoot the HitHat pad it's the cymbal i heard) i need help to configure it correctly (i need a drummap ?) sorry for my english i'm french and thank's for your help ;)

    Friendly

  • @EkiFr Make sure you have the latest AD version (1.5) and go to the 'beats' tab, then 'map window'. Go through each of the kit parts and use the 'MIDI learn' function to map them properly.

  • @Alixbox1723 hey man nice cover, i'm looking for a kit for around £500-£600 would you recommend this or would you suggest a different kit? also can this kit record straight into a computer with any software or do you need specific software?

  • @EkiFr

Do you need the computer to play addictive drums on the DM10?

Or you just download it to the module and it stays there?

  • Loved the video. I just started with drums 5 months ago. I could not agree with you more.

What software are you using to edit the filming with 2 cameras.

    Cheers carlo.

  • you can add more pads?

  • hey, cool vid. just wanted to know what the volume level was like for the neighbours with the mesh heads? I am really concerned about ambient noise outside of the headphones.

  • In your opinion,

1/ Is it worth spending twice the cash for roland/yamaha electronic set, if I'm to use it with "Addictive drums" or "Superior drummer" anyways

2/ Do roland/yamaha sounds are so much better and realistic in comparison to Alesis? Are they good for live or recording?

  • @vankata79 1: No. Swap out the DM10 heads for mesh (About £50 if you look on ebay) and it's just as good.

2: Maybe a little better for live play but won't pass for most recording - in which case use a VSTi anyway.

  • @Alixbox1723 they sound good enough for a home-studio don't ya think?

  • So, from reading the previous comments I understand that to get this sound on the Alesis DM10 you have to have it plugged to your PC and run Addictive Drums software. I guess I can get the same sound using regular midi trigger such as M-audio axiom 25 correct?

How would you compare sound realism between default Alesis DM-10 module and AD plug-in?

  • @vankata79 I'll put it in terms of video game graphics: the DM10 sounds are like Minecraft, the AD sounds are like Crysis on Ultra with three 30" monitors. DM10 does the job but doesn't hold up for live play or recording.

  • Clean your Room

  • weak...

  • @mahirevski

    What u got?

  • Is that a electric drum kit worth getting ??

  • How dynamic are the cymbals? Can you get them to be quieter if you need? Can you tap the top of them and get a ping low-dynamic response?

  • @westcoastin6 As long as they have a midi output, yes.

  • hey sorry to bother you but does Addictive drums work on every drum??

  • Deus da asas pra quem não sabe voar!!!

  • Do you clean your room ? :D

  • great stuff - I use Addictive Drums also - I think it's the easiest software to use with a digital drum set.

  • whats the difference between the DM10 Studio Kit or the DM10 X Kit??? please answer i want the best one of each

  • always this latency... you see it in the video

  • nice sounds... can you do a cross stick rimshot with the snare?

  • @zygote09 Yep, AD has a menu to change what each trigger plays relevant to the kit piece (EG the Cymbals have edge, bell, bow, etc).

  • is it just my impression or the dm10 has a much more realistic/acoustic sound than the dm6?

  • @prankstare That's not the DM10 you're hearing, it's a VST called "Addictive Drums". The DM10 is just processing the triggers and sending MIDI notes along USB.

  • how do you connect the module to the computer? via USB?

  • @bebenavole Yep, the DM10 has a handy USB port on the back. You can see it in the video, the grey cable on the right just under the word "Alesis"

  • @Alixbox1723 so out of intrest can you upload sounds to the module or can you only use the vst's ?

  • @gluv1 You can only upload very specific sounds that Alesis produces and sells to the module, and they take up the entire module's memory of sounds in order to have higher quality samples. I much prefer VSTs on a seperate machine.

  • I got this set and it seems like the space on the bass pad where impact is recognized is too small for double bass... did it work well for you?

  • @135288 Try fiddle with your sensitivity settings, or tighten/loosen the bass pad head.

  • I got this set and it seems like the space on the bass pad where impact is recognized is too small for double bass... did it work well for you?

  • dude!! why is there panties all over your floor man?.......lucky bastard!

  • Does it have a double pedal feature? If not, how do I attach one?

  • @135288 It doesn't come with one, but it can easily fit a double bass pedal. It clamps on just like acoustic drums.

  • @135288 Just as you would hook up a single pedal.

  • nice!

  • tidy up....ur room mate

  • I think that Addictive Drums has the BEST sound quality :)

  • it might be because you're good at playing but these drums sound pretty good, but I still have a few questions...

    - can it take a beating? I can hit my drums pretty hard sometimes, how durable are these ones?

    - i dont like replacing my tom sound with a china sound, so are these expandable? to what degree? can I add a china and a few splashes?

    - does it have a double pedal/can I attach a double pedal?

    thanks!

  • @rob6van1dam9 all are yes's but remember its electric, you can hit hard, but dont go crazy

  • @rob6van1dam9 I'm looking at this set on "Samash.com" as we speak. I can't find any information on it's double-bass capabilities; but I have found double-pedals on the same site. The pedals I'm looking at right now are $389.99 while the drum set is $999.

To answer your last question, at least.

  • how do i set up the alesis DM10 to my computer so i can use superior drummer? Do i just need a internet cord, Like a usb cord or something?

  • I had a few issues with latecy using the addictive drums have you had any issues and if si how did you resolve them. I am running windows 7 with 8GB of ram so I don't think it's a pc issue. Thanks.

  • @nstygatr Are you using the default audio drivers in your host program, or are you using ASIO4ALL? I'd recommend reducing the audio buffer by half until you get low latency but not so low that it causes glitching and crackling.

  • @Alixbox1723 using the stock ASIO drivers that come with Sonar 8.5. I will monkey with the buffer settings.

Seems like I have had the same issue with DFD2 and it may have been a bit worse.

    Thanks for the advice.

  • @nstygatr rather than the system specs you are running it on it totally depends on the asio driver you are using. if you're using an audio interface (firewire/usb) it should be ok, just reduce the buffer size so you get latencies of less than 10ms (around this size is when it starts getting use-able).

  • @theman362

I have a PCI m-audio delta 192 and I am running the asio driver for that interface.

My audio is coming out of the SPDIF digital connection.

I will try to reduce the buffer and see if that helps; thanks for the advice.

  • Is the Alesis DM10 drum set worth getting? Im gonna get it. How much is it and tell me more about it plz. How much is it for a double kick drum bass :D, or does

it or ready have it. Are the voice sounds awsome do you like them. What do you

rate? them 1/10? Plz replie :) thx for the video btw

Oh and does the drum set come with 2 or 1 kick pedals (not the 2011 version)

  • when i hit my snare harder it makes the snare rim sound...i want to keep the snare rim sound when needed but not when i hit the snare...how do i fix it thanx in advanced

  • @pno954 If you go to 'EXT TRIG', then note chase, hit your snare rim and check the 'Zone Xtalk' option. Put it up a little at a time until the problem's fixed.

  • @Alixbox1723 thanks

  • hey does anyone know how to load drum sounds into the dm10 and or how to play the kit through apple logic 9

  • rly wish they'd sell the kit without the module...

  • @redoubt9000 There's also the USB pro kit, which comes with the TriggerIO interface instead, as well as the shiny alloy cymbals

  • @Alixbox1723 are those really the same triggers tho? idk for some reason they just don't appear to be the same to me. maybe it's photoshop magic XD

And even so, the dm10 comes with more triggers, and you might as well pay the price for the kit despite the module. I mean it's only 2-300 more for the kit over the USB kit :(

  • Can you tell me if this kit has an input jack for an mp3 player so i can play along to music using my mp3 player?

  • @khessmd68 Yes; it has the red and white plugs for audio at the back, visible at the beginning of the video

  • hey man, nice vid, but I wanted to ask you a question... I got an issue with my brand new DM10 studio kit, none of the tums seem to be 100% responsive...say, you hit each fast lets say, 60 times, and you only hear 30 or 35 drum sounds... Any ideas of how to ix it?

  • @Aloz16 Make sure you hit the pads directly in the center of the pad. I had that problem, too, when I had my new DM10, but after a week or so, you get used to it. (Although it's very annoying sometimes)

  • @Aloz16 Under "Ext Trig" check your settings (sensitivity and threshold in particular). Try crank sensitivity up 20 at a time until it feels about right, then narrow it down in fives from there.

  • nice single bass play, thought it wass a double bass lol. nice!

  • tidy up youre room :)

  • So this kit is expandable? :D

  • @fasionroadkill Yup. With the normal setup it uses 11 inputs, with one spare; you can also plug a MIDI cable in and use another device (such as a Trigger-IO) to plug more pads into.

  • @Alixbox1723 Would you recommend this to a guitarist who wants to start drumming on an electric kit and recording on a budget?

  • @fasionroadkill Definitely; it's a great kit for the price, and comes with all the features of high end kits

  • @Alixbox1723 are these kits as crappy, and fall apart as easily as many people say they do?

  • @fasionroadkill Not at all; I've beaten the hell out of it for almost a year and it's still in good working order.

  • love the mess everywhere LOL...... first things first! keep on rocking!!

  • it comes with 4 cymbals right?

  • @johnishable Yes

  • cool drumming

  • Just wondering whats that you have on top of the DM10 module?

  • @fashs It's the MIDI pro adapter for Rock Band 3.

  • Can I use my EZdrummer DFH with this? Thanks in advance.

  • @randiesel87 Yes

  • another question how long have you been playing drums???

  • @johnyboyproduction Just over a year

  • @Alixbox1723 do you think you need to change de mesh because i got one last week

  • Hey Great video!! its like the only video where i can tell how it sounds , good job on your solo also I was wondering since you probably play with acoustic drums to, do you find it more dificult to do rolls on the dm10?? please answer back thank you

  • @johnyboyproduction They're about the same. Acoustic drum heads are usually tuned a lot looser (Floortoms especially) so double-stroke rolls are a little harder, but on these all the pads can be tightened to whatever you like.

  • hey man, thanks for the video. Have a few questions, been looking into getting an e kit for awhile exclusively for using midi and some drumsoftware for recording. Still not sold on how well it will sound in my mixes, indie/acoustic type stuff. But also concerned about the volume of the alesis pads (stuck in my tiny studio apt), if you could comment on that, especially the kick that'd be great. maybe a quick comment on the pads feel as well as how easily it pairs with software? thanks again!

  • @sluggdiddyyddidgguls It's loud compared to other electronic kits (Rubber or mesh heads) but a million times quieter than an acoustic kit.My surrounding neighbors (One above, one attached at the side) barely hear it. The pads themselves feel great when you've got the sensitivity tuned to your liking, and respond well to soft/fast hits as well as flams and other stuff. The kick pad is pretty noisy, so I replaced the (Mylar) head with a thicker rubber one and it makes a much duller thud.

  • @sluggdiddyyddidgguls Roland or Yamaha. Simmons and Alesis are junk kits, comparably. the best feel/sound muting is the new yamaha DTX kits. Roland is the easiest for pairing with emulating software, followed by yamaha.

  • Hey I just bought a Dm10, and I got some problem with the noise, even when Im not playing, the crash or any other pad is still sounding, I dont know if you know how to fix that problem. Becaus I wanna to play in live, and If gonna be a problem, tell me something to this email, noriar20atgmaildotcom

  • @thirteentheband Check your Ext. Trig settings, especially Xtalk Send/Rcv, Sensitivity and Threshold. If it's still happening try swapping out the cable to the see if that's the problem

  • what are addictive drums ?

  • @UNLrainbow "Addictive Drums" is a computer program made by XLN Audio which allows you to trigger drum samples from MIDI

  • Awesome... what's the latency like when you trigger the kit through Addictive Drums?

  • @TheVerno1985 I use the ASIO4ALL drivers, so you can actually change the audio buffer - and therefore the latency - manually. It's pretty good, I don't notice any time difference between triggering AD and triggering the module's built in sounds.

  • Hey man... you used any double kicks this kit? If so, how did it work?

  • @TheVerno1985 I have a double bass pedal but I don't use it much. It seems to work okay but I just suck at it :P

  • did u put an extra tom in?

  • @ImrulBM Yes, it triggers the cowbell slot in Addictive Drums

  • Nice jamming. Can you choke the Addictive Drums with this kit?

  • @ransisua Yep, the two chokeable cymbals (Crash 1 and Ride) both work fine.
