My mom had spinal surgery and she was in a room with a girl who lived on a ranch and had to sell all 5 of her horses because she needed back surgery and the doctors said she would never be able to move her spine(blend or twist) or ride again. My mom said she was REALLLLLLLY sad. So the morale of my story is, you are lucky!!!!

Doctors have told me all sorts of negative tings but I refuse to listen! I had event horses and had to sell them but hope this yea I will get riding again! Hope your Mum is ok. X

Good luck with the rehab! I had spinal fusion surgery that fused both thoracic and lumbar vertebra (I can't remember the exact length of the fusion but it was about 8-10 inches total). I had to take six months off but then was able to ride again. I've got a friend who had 15 spinal surgeries and she still rides. Never give up :).
