i'm in the exact same situation currently...took enough times just to get the reinforcements to work properly. I even got the game to say "congratulations, all mujadeen have been nuetrualized...search the town for prisoners and interrogate injured" BY ONLY SENDING IN VEHICLES (Dont forget the mine at the main town entrance) and even after that message i got the same fail message as you...this is like the 30th reload...lemme know if you find anything about it, nothing online.

Ya man, i got through it.

Unfortunately, i had to reedo the whole mission. This game is chalk full of bugs, but its alot of fun. What you should do is RIGHT BEFORE you capture the road behind the town, (to stop their retreat), SAVE! so if anything bad happens just load and cap the road again. Better than redoing the whole mission. After you save, send in the troops. The POWs are in buildings behind the town, near your blocking position, so make sure you dont blow them up.

You can only save them after the MAIN TOWN HAS BEEN CLEARED (DON'T FORGET!). The POWs are defended by a AA gun, and about 4-5 Mujaheddin. I would suggest holding your blocking position until the MAIN TOWN is clear, then move in on the POW's don't do it till then or the game might screw up.

this game is extremly full of bugs, some bugs are so strong that can make u lose a mission :S

the interface is hard to use.

the movement of the units is not too realistic

Story is very good, but the game is boring sometimes

but the most horrible in this game are the bugs, i've never seen a game with so many bugs... u can try it and see it by yourself...
