Well Max loved Esther in the very beginning because she did not know. And Esther did die because at the end she got shot and drowned in the water under the ice. But i feel bad for Max bacause Esther REALLY made her freaked out. I mean she saw her dad get stabbed to death and her mom almost killed! Poor Max

I don't think daniel deserved what happened to him. He didn't like her because he sensed something was off about her. and he was right... I also don't think max was sad when esther died... They didn't have a loving relationship. She just did what esther wanted because she was scared of her! She was crying because of everything that was happening! she was nearly shot! Her mom was nearly killed and not to mention she saw he dad get stabbed to death. That's enough to make me cry. Let alone a child.

There is a scene in the original draft of the script, which one can find on Imsdb, where Leena Klammer, then known as Veera Klammer, having only recently killed John, looks up to see Max staring at her in horror and says:- ''It's okay, baby. Come to Mommy.'' The scene in which Esther hugs Max after killing Sister Abigail, saying to her that she will never allow harm to come to her.
