We did not create the insurgency, we gave them a medium in which to expose themselves and then subsequently became their target as they struggled for power. Even the insurgency has declined considerably. We are now seeing tribal fractioning create a tremendous portion of the violence.

This is a great vehicle. Our soldiers use it in Iraq too and they just LOVE it. Its not as mobile as the BMP-23 and it cant carry so much passengers, but its faster and perfect against fast-moving towellheads. Too bad it doesnt have ATGMs.
This is to replace the HMMWV in a tactical environment. This is not an Infantry Fighting Vehicle like the Bradley. The comparison would be like comparing that piece of crap russion 4 door staff vehicle with our Bradley.

the main weapon system is the MK19 40mm automatic grenade launcher. the secondary is the .50cal machine gun. then after that there is a M249 SAW mounted outside the gunner's top hatch. after that there are your rifles and pistols... enough guns to stay in the fight.

ASV is not a "glorified Humvee" by any meeans. It is a purpose built vehicle. Nothing similiar to a Humvee, I have operated both.
