i'm writing a story for my own manga and passing around my draft at school they say it's awesome and would be a cool cartoon but i don't know thanks for your help wish me luck :3
Thank you :). This is very helpful. Right now, I am currenly 12, and I plan to be a manga artist and writer when I grow up; but I have a queston- Do you have to be in Japan to be successful in making manga? Because I live way out here in the U.S.
@fengshui522 This guy is smart. The internet is only going to be a better resource for the "up-and-coming" artists. Millions of people will have access to your artwork with websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. Its all about promoting your work! Use these websites to your advantage! If your manga get's big enough, you will be selling copies of it like it's nothing!
Hi I am a young manga writer and I was wondering if onece I get my first volume out if you would like to see it. It's called Tenma Otome (Demon Girl), I am a little new to drawing manga but I am very good at it. So again I just wanted to see if you would like to take a look at it.
Thank you :D Im 12 and I have always been interested in the manga and anime. My friends also say i could do good animations for my age and experience with the animation process.
I'm 14 and trying to make a manga/anime, and this video is fantastic! Its really good at inspiring people to try and produce manga/animes, which is really cool! :D
I have an idea for an anime, and I need to find a good software that will actually animate the characters. I've found nothing so far, and I'm starting to think there's nothing out there that can make my anime look sort of like Inuyasha or Shugo Chara.
im 11 and i can draw anime kinda good, and i need some ideas .i want to know if i work really hard will i be good when im older .i watch animes and study them take bleach, i looked at it and it turned out to be really simple ,and i want to move to japan .im still a little rusty but i think i can do it since im still 11 and i have alot of time to learn and i can always get tons of help from friends and family
I want to make a Light Novel series I haven't figured out a title yet but I am still writing it....... but I didn't know that I could start so young.... I really want to start NOW I'm 12 and turning 13. I want to say to my friend one day when I'm older HA HA!!!! I BEAT YOU!!! You see my friend says that he wants to be the first white guy to make a Japanese anime! well when I am older I want to say HA HA I BEAT YOU!!!!! LOL but I can't animate YET so I want to write a light novel series! can U
I'm doing what my coz did back when he was my age (15) in Brazil I just go walking around places selling my manga and the next thing i know loads of people are buying it! I am so happy. now whenever I go places, people recognize my face & my work. I started off in small places were no one really go to. Then I went to Sao Paulo which I must say was my biggest obstacle yet! So many talented people...I was kind of happy I was so young though cuz now I can learn what they have learned only sooner.
Easier said than done, but I'm gonna try! Thank you for this it really got me motivated. I'm in the planning stage of my first manga, and I'll be learning about animation soon so anime is soon to follow^^
i im 15 and i have all these like plans, images and scene for my own comic/ manga in my head but i feel my drawing skills are good enough to draw to the image of the manga to what i picture, got any advice besides getting better
This is great. :D I mean, I don't exactly want to try to launch a career in manga/anime specifically, but you know, it's pretty much the same for whatever art style (and maybe other things?) too, so that's cool. C:
Also, I love how we're all taking advice from a guy with an awesome British accent. :D I dunno, I just find it funny. c:
in your other video you said u need a degree to live in japan can that be a degree in anything ? also im planning to go on holiday to japan next year in july/augest where is the best place to fly to ?
thankyou for inspiring i was sorta born with a manga talent i first tried it when I was 10 im13 now and its more of perfected do u have any ideas of how to get into anime magazines well idk were to start do u have any ideas? haha
Thank you some much. That was really motivating. I just graduated in my computer science degree and did a networked java game dissertation. I also do web design and adore mangas+anime. Im gonna make my game public on a website and also create an manga.
Thank you so much for this :] I've been working on my own manga/anime for about 5 years now and I've always wanted to be a mangaka ( manga artist. ) as my job. But I've always had trouble wondering how i would get there :[ But thanks to you, now I have a starting a point ;] Who knows? Maybe you'll see my work in japan some day! Thank again!
I've always wanted to make my own anime and now is the chance to do it i'm 13 years old and my characters in my anime are like fantasy type characters over 50 characters and all of them with their backround story and soon i'll make my own web site and put the stories there that way i'll be notice.
I'm a writter. I recently shared my work with someone who I had met on the internet. Not knowing her I was reluctent to do so. To my surprise she really liked it, she even offered to illustrate it for me. Well we have been working together via internet and mail for a few months now. For a while everything was going great, but I am starting to loose confidence. You see I live in the US, and she lives in the UK. Not to mention that this is a OEL manga, they don't usually do well. Any advice?
A have a question as well, once I have everything...you know, characters, plot script, pages artbook and several numbers of my manga... who do I get in touch with, is it a single person or a whole board of people and after that how would they do to keep in touch with me, I'm I required to go to Japan (or even live there) or can everything be on line or overseas comunication, I'm asking becaue my project has like 10 finished issues made by my own hand and people get amazed everytime they see it
What you really need are customers. Get together with an artist and find some people who'd be willing to pay you for your comics. That way you don't need anyone else!
Is there any talented artists out there who would like to draw my manga for me!!! If so go to my channel and watch the video about my ideas about starting my own manga!!
You have to have something that brings value to the project. If your stories are so amazing that they blow everyone else out of the water then there's a fair chance you could meet some friends online who can draw the pictures for you.
Think of it like a rock band in that case, putting together a group of people with different skills to come up with something really cool!
I've been drawing for so long, I have to believe that I can make it! :) Everybody should have faith on themselves that they can (I'm interest in a lot of things: art, acting, voice acting, gaming, etc) Soon my dreams will come true, that's good info to hear mister so thank you~^_^
Dude my name is francisco and i think what u just said is about to make me famous in a couple of years wit my manga devils chain its good trust me.......
"Just so I could get free games from the Companies." Lol That was awesome. :)
I'm makng my own manga as well and I'm only fifteen! I'm not sponsored or anything YET, but hopefully once I get out of highschool I'll start looking and getting myself out there for those offers and who knows I just might get a job. :)

well if your good on scratch paper. try using a program like manga studio. you can draw proffesional manga on your computer. its pretty expensive but theres lots of ways to get it cheap just message me. i was able to get it cheap its a great program
Oh yeah, it's got to be YOUR OWN anime or manga. I hope I made that clear enough.
Yes, using other people's work is both wrong (they put a lot of work into it!) and illegal. The idea I proposed is for people who want to make it with their own original material!
This is very inspirational, motivating and uplifting , you should consider being a public speaker at stuff like conferences if you haven't done so already.
This is a very uplifting and inspirational speech.
I think I will try my hardest to develope my stuff and get it out there at some point , but after seeing this , it's realy motivated me to step it up a bit.
You'd make a really good public speaker at stuff like conferences, if you haven't gone in to that area already.
This is so Amazing, Im definatley gonna take some of these tips =D Your videos are so amazing! Can't wait to see more :3 But I have a question, The clip art websites and stuff like that, Do you have to pay for a server on those? Thanks~
With the economy going down the drain and people losing their jobs left and right, there has to be a better way. I mean who doesn't want to make more money these days?
The content in this video is incredible! These are the same techniques I use to generate a recession proof income. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to watch your future videos.
Im also 7ElementzHeroes, so where is the best place to buy a website like your site. I been working on an anime im id love to get it out there but i cant draw well but im a good writer so any suggestion?
Spread myself out on the web? I'm trying brother...I got around 320 something subscribers off of my anime drawings..It's going slowly, but I have the patience....I think
Hey, i really like your videos esp for telling us about japan and how we can actually make a living there and be a part of the country. I love Japan and thanks again ;)
You're pretty inspirational Mr. Richard, to be able to devote some time to inform others on how to make some of their dreams come true. Thank you for informing the young generation that nothing is impossible and to just got for it. 5/5
I've always wanted to start a manga with my friend. My friend does the drawing and I come up with the storyline. We never went ahead with it of course, because we always assumed it wouldn't be worth trying.
I am taking your first advice though. Once I'm out of college, I am going to try and work in Japan to teach English to young kids for a couple of years. It will be a great way to learn some Japanese!! :)
Good question. In that case you set up a blog or do a Youtube video of you telling the story and asking other people to illustrate it for you. They can either do a youtube "video response" or a reply on your blog. You'll both own the copyrights then. You never know you might just join up with someone to make you the Lennon & McCartney of anime or manga!
who knows, you could start out a a partnership instead of a sole trador. That's what me and my friends did. One friend does the story line, another does the writing, the other does the setout, and I do the drawings!
In that case find out what you would like to do in manga or anime and get really, really good at it. If it's really what you want to do there are many more jobs in the industry. Writing? Voice acting? Editing? Marketing? Think about your ideal future job, what would you love to be able to do all day everyday? Then work at becoming the best in the world at it!
I can't draw, more is the pity, but videos like this that you make, really make me want to focus on the things I want, but usually make excuses about doing!
Also, thanks for the whole Genki Japan site.
I am just starting to learn Japanese now, and my Sons (aged 4 and 19 months) already know a few words, from listening to the wonderful songs and playing the games ^_^
oh yeh i mean what kind of business. im currently learning accounting and so far its goings pretty good. what business could you start at such a young age?
Those are some good suggestions. Personally I'm not really into anime or manga, but for those who are this is some great advice. Not to mention with modern day sites like Facebook or Myspace is another great way to promote yourself for a future career.
i'm writing a story for my own manga and passing around my draft at school they say it's awesome and would be a cool cartoon but i don't know thanks for your help wish me luck :3

who knows, you could start out a a partnership instead of a sole trador.

You are so inspirational, thank you.
So from me, it's Domo Arigato, Mata ashita!

I never knew it could ever be that simple.
I draw a little but it isn't that good (-_-).
But I'll just keep practicing and I know I'll have my dream come true. Thank you so much for this advice.

Those are some good suggestions. Personally I'm not really into anime or manga, but for those who are this is some great advice. Not to mention with modern day sites like Facebook or Myspace is another great way to promote yourself for a future career.
