Well this is how I discovered Kiss - i saw this promo and went out and bought Dressed to Kill - became obsessed after that. @LiteracyLabyrinth2 Genius marketers? LOL uh NO it was the record company & neil bogart who came up with the idea for mechandise. dont get me wrong im a Huge KISS fan, but you must have seeen the video VHS extreme close up 1992. where paul says we get alot of credit for being Brilliant, but you could hardly call someone who fell into a stream of Gold, you know Brilliant. it wasn't about looking "bigger" it was just more colorful, i collected kiss cards but didnt know their music i was 7 yrs old
gene is the best rock demon of thunder ever...if he could play the bass really good, hed be too good.. even though he doesnt play well, if i was creating the greatest rock band ever, id have him playing bass in it

I find their early performances rather interesting.Till '74, Kiss were a rightful part of the emerging glam rock scene.By '75 they were fast becoming cliché puppets.

Wow now this takes me back way back, I graduated in 1975 it was also the year i saw my first kiss concert, have always loved kiss and always will. KISS has been there since the beginning and will be there at the end!!!!
This is the film clip that took Australia by storm !! We first saw it in black and white on our tv's.. There was no looking back after that for KISS.. We became the KISS capital of the world... I as a fan, i have never forgotten the first time i saw it... I can honestly say that i remember it as if it was like yesterday.. Long live KISS
There's no gray area with KISS - You either love 'em or hate 'em. Me, I'm a fan and have been since the beginning. KISS fans put up with all kinds of crap, especially KISS fans in their late 40's! Bring it on, nay sayers. One thing people overlook is the fact that KISS got to where they are today by having a strong work ethic. Those "homos" bust their ass to put on a great show. I've never been to a bad KISS concert. Can't say the same for some other bands. RRHOF? KISS MY ASS!
That video brings back memories. The performance grab America by storm and hence they reach the big time. Regardless how things are now there story is one-of-a-kind. Still this video made them over the top.
KISS made there mark in the music industry regardless of what anybody says.
@obdaddy ...63 likes???...I think you are all confused...when were they ever "full on Homo"???this guy is obviously trolling/ tweaking the fans...Alice Cooper was considered "homo" (in your words) and that ground breaker ain't seeing an induction ceremony anytime soon...you do realise he just called you all "sexually confused"...ummm I guess not...you guys make a cottage industry in making inane comments and then sit back and diss for the next 3 months...I ain't taking that bait...buhbye
The original line-up of KISS should definately be inducted into the RARHOF! Sure, KISS didn't have many hit singles, and their albums were pretty rough, but they should be inducted just for the influence they had on future musicians. Look, Gene $immon$ has pretty much run this band into the ground with his bullshit merchandising, but few bands could measure up to KISS from '74-'78! KISS was, at that time, a potent hard-rocking band! Like them or not, they were influential!
I remember everybody use to say that Gene Simmons had a goats tongue sewed to his tongue and everybody believe it. Here is another one, the reason they wore makeup because they were hideous looking
Fewer Rock and Roll bands were as brave as Kiss back in the 70's.Sure, there were individual artists flaunting androgyny and the occasional band w/ a gay lead singer, but none of them had the balls to go full on homo like these guys did. The hall of Fame should let them in for that and for their willingness to be ridiculed as the punch line to countless jokes.Who cares if they're musically irrelevant or if they can't play, its about the show and the legions of sexually confused fans.Let them in!
@obdaddy : just had a look at your favorites page: "My little butter cup"... I mean, WTF?! And YOU are talking about "going full on homo" and being "sexually confused"? Go figure.
@obdaddy: .not only did it give me great joy to expose you for the complete FAG that you are, but to watch you squirm like that, getting your panties in a twist.... oh man that's just priceless. I mean, can you believe this guy? Sombody cue in some manic, cackling Ace Frehley laughter, please!
On behalf of all the KISS fans that are pointing and laughing at you right now: thank YOU for your willingness to be ridiculed - THANK YOU!
@NewYorkGr00ve Squirm? Panties in a twist?Perhaps the grease paint (I wonder if your Kiss mask is a dick entering your lipsticked mouth?)has affected your tiny brain.Tell me, when you go to the amusement park in your 6'' platform shoes are you tall enough to ride th big boy rides or you still hoping for next year?Since you're clearly such a fan of juvenile bands might I suggest that you give the Chipmunks a try?Lyrically similar to Kiss, but the guitarist knows more than just basic power chords.
@obdaddy: You still haven't explained why a flamboyant homosexual like yourself feels the need to call KISS "gay" or their fans "sexually confused". That sound really strange coming from someone who probably lubes up his asshole on a regular basis. You also come across as, well, kinda dumb, really. I never argue with morons and idiots: they drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. So... bye bye now, obfaggy. Don't let the door hit you in your queer ass on the way out, OK?
@NewYorkGr00ve Did the Irony truck miss it's scheduled stop at your trailer park this week, son?Only a sexually insecure fan-boy would allow my harmless joke at Kiss fans' expense rile himself up so that he not only felt it neccessary to respond but to respond w/ a 3rd grade"No I'm not, you are" argument.Careful throwing those dumb, moron and idiot stones in that uneducated glass house of yours. Between that and the dozen homophobic slurs in your posts one might think you're over compensating.
@obdaddy As the band has stated in more than several interviews, they were influenced (among others) by the New York Dolls. As far as the "none of them had the balls to go full on homo like these guys did" , simply untrue. You musta just forgot at the time of your post, cause slugs under rocks have purchased NYD albums or went to their early shows as the members of Kiss have stated over and over. The genderblending was incorporated into their stage personae.
@gapedhok I stand corrected, The New York Dolls also had the balls to go full on homo. Not that I care, my post was just a poke at hyper-zealous, whack-a-doodle Kiss fans like NewYorkGr00ve.
@obdaddy Full on homo? Don't see them wearing ladies clothes. Spitting blood and breathing fire, homo? Apparently not a fan. They thrive in spite of it.
@obdaddy Musically irrelevant?!? They started out in 1974 and KISS continues to sell out venues 36 years later. Countless musicians credit Ace Frehley with getting them interested in playing the guitar. As far as being gay, Gene Simmons has slept with thousands of women. What about their performance is "full on homo"? They have millions of fans and cover bands. I guess those millions of fans must be sexually confused. Your post is ridiculous.
@Davesque At least you got the silly part, dumbass. We certainly owe them thanks for unleashing millions of rednecked facepainters and cover band guitar hacks upon the world. I think it says more about the intelligence (musical and general) of their fans willing to be fleeced by Kiss Inc. than it does about the 3 chorded quality of their asinie anthems. "Full on homo" was bait aimed at drawing out the morons in their base like you, NewYorkGroove et al. It seems to be working.
@obdaddy I am a National Merit Scholarship winner and a successful attorney. What do you do besides insult people anonymously? Get a life. By the way, your obsession with "homos" probably apeaks to your confused sexuality. Finally, if there are millions of KISS cover bands, that would indicate that they were incredibly popular and a big influence on many musicians.

the rock and roll hall of shame ain't worth being in... back in these days when kiss was too cool for them and this vintage band will always TOO cool for the lousy rock and roll hall of shame!
I'm a video editor and a KISS fan. This is original studio version of Cmon n Love Me edited together with a crowd audio. The video of KISS performing is without a live audience.
What always amazed me about KISS and also Ted Nugent. What do they both have in common? Guess? They don't drink or party. KISS was extremely PROFESSIONAL in that aspect because they are JEWISH businessmen and focused on the WRITING, PERFORMANCE and BUSINESS part of rock and roll. They really did not go off and take drugs. Ted Nugent was a health nut. I WISH I had that kind of discipline. I always look up to people who can do that. BANDS especially. Drugs get in the way!!!
@TheGreatLouMass . you are right in the sense that drugs get in the way, but I think alot of great music is the product of drug use. It's just the duration of the career that is affected!
It was mostly because he was so skinny in the early years. Also, he changed his make-up a bit when Destroyer came out. And his hair looked frizzier after Destroyer.
gene simmnos looked different in the 70's.. just like he was another person... but paul still looks the same. I mean, his face. Peter's and Ace's face too. Strange. Gene's face looks so different, even with the make-up.
Gene looked cool in the early 70's. Then , he slowly turned into a fat slob and looks ridiculous in the whole demon garb now. 74-75 he look wicked cool.
Seems weird that they are using the studio versions from 'Dressed to Kill' to promote 'Alive' if that's the case, and the newly posted(by Casablanca Records book) promo for 'Dressed to Kill' uses live versions!
Same here! Fortunately, however, a number of my favorites (majority are from the 80s), ARE STILL rockin' and rollin', today-despite the number of new(er) bands on the scene or coming onto the scene.

is that guy with the star on his eye the transvestite from the rocky horror show and the guy with bat wings on his face, is that witchiepoo from h r puffnstuff?
they're not in the hall of fame because music critics have always hated them!!its all political!!!!personally i'd induct them tomorrow given the chance!!
@dsleazyh With all due respects...I fear that the rock and roll hall of fame is not quite as important as it looked like it would be when it opened. .... In fact the top floor where the inductees are formally listed is kind of a big nothing...I will grant you that if there isn't a little bit of Gene (business side) in all rock stars I'm sure they wish there was.
@dsleazyh no, the reason why Kiss aren't in the hall of fame is because of a guy named Jann Wenner who is the man behind Rolling Stone magazine and who knows NOTHING about rock and roll. he is the ultimate brown noser. he is a grade A douchebag. The critics that vote actually voted them in last year but Jann said no. He does not like Kiss and does not want them in the hall of fame, which is a joke anyway.
you like hot chics ? when you get the chance check out the video I posted of my band,"Blind by GregMendes" here is the link...there is also a KISS cover too, when watching "blind" look to the far right in the "more videos from hockeyhipi" column. let me know what you think, please post a comment.
if you dig it, "SUBSCRIBE" to my page, and you will know when I post more of my band's videos in the upcoming weeks.or put them on your "favorites" , tell your friends ! thanks !

This video is of the Australian rock band called Kiss. The bass player is called Steve Bees. The man with the star on his eye is Gary Glitter. They play disco music plus ballards. Enjoy
kiss wil be making a new album in 2009 it has been confirmed by paul stanley and gene simmons paul will produce the album and have total control over it. look for it late summer 2009.
At this point, they're way too old to be up there pretending it's 1976. I hope that they concentrate on just putting out a GOOD album. Long time fans will be satisfied with that alone. Hopefully Ace and Peter will be part of it in some way.
i cant beleive gene is 60 almost 61,pual just turned 57 ace is gunna be 58 n peter is like 60 some thing. dam there old but their music never goe out of style! fucking loved this band when i was born.even saw em on their "farewell" tour
My brother told me they were talking about making a new record. Who knows?? Gene is so wrong about that. Diehard fans like us will always buy anything new. Thats a BS statement if you ask me. Just like i heard he said KISS fans don't want a new album...Just the old stuff. Thats BS as well. Gene needs to start thinking more about the fans, and less about filling his bank vault. As if he's not rich enough..right???
there is footage from the 1975 cobo hall concert that was recorded for alive in existence, beacuse there are snippets of it in here! just look at the bass that gene has, at one point, he has his lobue,(which was brown during the alive recordings. does anyone know where i can find the full concert
are you agreein with me i cant tell , its from the cobo stage , jus not filmed during the actual concert , as for ace switching guits that just seals the deal, dont believe me beleive your ears buy kissology 1
well, you may be right. but, i know for a fact that real footage exists, becuase if you watch vh1's specials called ultimate albums alive, they clearly state that the footage they show is from cobo. and from what i saw of strutter that they played at cobo, it sucked. bad.
Dressed to Kill, from beginning to end, is the best studio produced "rock n roll" album they ever made. Sure, they had many other hit songs, and better produced platinum records...But Dressed is where they reach their pinnacle of no frills, no excuses, good ole hard rock! I certainly envy anyone who saw them this tour back in the day.
these lads really are superb! best live act there has ever been!

@TheGreatLouMass . you are right in the sense that drugs get in the way, but I think alot of great music is the product of drug use. It's just the duration of the career that is affected!

In the late 70's I guess coming from the middle-east was politically hot; hence the reason Gene asked if he was live on the television.
That's also why there is also a Jewish 7 candle candlestick on all the early live videos of Kiss.
So, being a rockstar, I guess Gene had a nose job to rid himself of his big snozzle and look better!
staffsmole 2 years ago
With reference to Gene's nose job...
There is that video on you tube where Kiss were doing a live Hallowe'en night interview with a chat show host and where Ace is completely pissed.
At the start of that interview the host asks Gene where he came from.
Gene asks somebody off set if it was a live performance and when he is told "yes", he says he is from New York.
Gene was born in the Jewish middle-east, Lebanon or Palestine or somewhere like that.
And with a Jewish nose, he had a nose job.
staffsmole 2 years ago
@staffsmole Gene Simmons was born in Israel on a Kibbutz... His birth name was Chaim Witz... I think it might be a German Jewish name...

@AceTheBathound I believe Gene wa born a Hungarian-Jew, then moved to Israel as an infant!

Gene is one of the best bass player nd preformer there is!!!!!!!!!Kiss #1 always
demon312003 2 years ago
Gene never plays bass without a guitar pick but he almost always mimes his bass lines in music videos sans pick. That is kind of annoying.
Gerkinstock 2 years ago 2
Plus Gene got a nose job sometime in the 70's/80's
JulianJames2009 2 years ago
It was mostly because he was so skinny in the early years. Also, he changed his make-up a bit when Destroyer came out. And his hair looked frizzier after Destroyer.
Gerkinstock 2 years ago
AWESOME !
KISSNYC 2 years ago
But I think from 1992-1996, without the make-up, gene looked cool too. But now with the make-up back, he looks weird.
naoaceitanenhumnome 2 years ago
gene simmnos looked different in the 70's.. just like he was another person... but paul still looks the same. I mean, his face. Peter's and Ace's face too. Strange. Gene's face looks so different, even with the make-up.
naoaceitanenhumnome 2 years ago
Gene looked cool in the early 70's. Then , he slowly turned into a fat slob and looks ridiculous in the whole demon garb now. 74-75 he look wicked cool.

Seems weird that they are using the studio versions from 'Dressed to Kill' to promote 'Alive' if that's the case, and the newly posted(by Casablanca Records book) promo for 'Dressed to Kill' uses live versions!

OK , they aren't in the Hall of Fame becasue why?
Assholian88 2 years ago 2
they're not in the hall of fame because music critics have always hated them!!its all political!!!!personally i'd induct them tomorrow given the chance!!
dsleazyh 2 years ago 16
@dsleazyh With all due respects...I fear that the rock and roll hall of fame is not quite as important as it looked like it would be when it opened. .... In fact the top floor where the inductees are formally listed is kind of a big nothing...I will grant you that if there isn't a little bit of Gene (business side) in all rock stars I'm sure they wish there was.
ih8tbush 1 year ago
@dsleazyh no, the reason why Kiss aren't in the hall of fame is because of a guy named Jann Wenner who is the man behind Rolling Stone magazine and who knows NOTHING about rock and roll. he is the ultimate brown noser. he is a grade A douchebag. The critics that vote actually voted them in last year but Jann said no. He does not like Kiss and does not want them in the hall of fame, which is a joke anyway.
romeokid69 1 year ago
@dsleazyh yeah its something they don't care about too much BUT
it supossed to be an honor & considering the singers who have gotten in its Beyond retarded carie underwood?! Madonna?! WTF!?

At this point, they're way too old to be up there pretending it's 1976. I hope that they concentrate on just putting out a GOOD album. Long time fans will be satisfied with that alone. Hopefully Ace and Peter will be part of it in some way.

mausca61 3 years ago

T2TD 3 years ago
if you get kissology 1 it is explained this was staged for the promo , this is not the concert
busteroo7 3 years ago
no, but look at ace's guitar . one minute, it's black, and the next minute, tobacco burst. the tobacco burst is from the REAL cobo concert
T2TD 3 years ago
are you agreein with me i cant tell , its from the cobo stage , jus not filmed during the actual concert , as for ace switching guits that just seals the deal, dont believe me beleive your ears buy kissology 1
busteroo7 3 years ago
well, you may be right. but, i know for a fact that real footage exists, becuase if you watch vh1's specials called ultimate albums alive, they clearly state that the footage they show is from cobo. and from what i saw of strutter that they played at cobo, it sucked.
