Purebred dogs, including those in the show circuit, are often damaged goods with an entire battery of genetic problems resulting from cavalier breeding to appease faddish breed standards...such as epilepsy in King Charles spaniels and severely sloping backs in German Shepherds. Fads, just asinine fads and detrimental to the breed. Among breeders of AKC pups is it about the good of the breed or the profit margin? I have a purebred and a throwaway mutt and both are equal to me. I luv 'em both!
