  • Quarter horses

  • the girl at 1:37 is a really good rider. her hands are not flopping everywhere and she has a good seat and position :)

  • I love this its so cute but those first three people need to learn how to control their hands. they are flying everywhere!!

  • I think they should go out on the pockets bigger, js. I still love this video but those horses r huge!

  • ok, they should use a thoughbred or Rocky Mountain horse, draft horses are NOT made for contesting!!!

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92

It's called fun and fyi, quarter horses are usually used for barrels.

  • @Pintomare11 they just arent made 4 tht u asshole! and my comment nver clled 4 ur damn input. i

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92

I never disputed the fact that drafts aren't made for barrel racing. And your right, by putting your comment on a public site , you opened it to everyone's input.

But Thoroughbred and Rocky Mountain horses are not bred for barrels either as Thoroughbreds are build for racing, jumping or eventing and RMH are GAITED horses, so you are invalidating your own argument. That's not to say that either breed can't barrel race, but you're saying a breed should not be used because it's

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92

not built for a sport and then replying with two breeds who also are not made for the sport?

I wasn't being an asshole before, but I certainly can be if you wanna try me.

  • the woman on the white horse was trotting the whole time......

  • The guy on the white horse looks like an English rider in a western saddle... -.-

  • I think a lot of these riders were trying to ride their draft horse like they would a quarter horse... It doesn't tend to work out the way you want it to... It's like trying to drive a Mack Truck the way you would a sedan...

  • The big white one at the finish is like "psh I'm not cantering. Wtf do you expect me to do here? Jump?! Okay if you want me to canter you're loosing your hat jack-ass."

  • If any of you think this is .."fun" I think I only saw one good rider in that whole thing.. the rest were jigging and jeering on the horse's mouth. That is not fun to me, lets see you put a bit in your mouth and have someone pulling and yanking.. see how much "fun" you're having then. Idiots :/

  • Why are they clapping for the first guy who was pulling so much on the horses mouth , bunch of idiot rednecks..

  • my best friend Jaime is on the black draft with the neon green blanket on I LOVE YOU JAIME YOUR THE BEST

  • they have an english saddle!= )

  • @jessicalove2246 My BIGGEST pet peeve in thw world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love English and ride it all the time, but im always western when i barrel race!!!!! ALWAYS!!!

  • 1:06 lady got on to her horse real bad, cause SHE knocked the barrel. Poor horse, she couldn't help it, and the lady probably lost more points from being like that in the show ring :(

  • i live in ga ! i used to show minis in that arena now i barrel race there

  • i feel so bad for the horses!!!!!! getting smacked like OMG!!!

  • Lol, the barrels are so small compared to the draft horses :)

  • I hate this sport, they are always yanking on he horses mouth

  • @secretariat888 and actual racing is any better? They whip the horses to death and half of them hav e to be put down because they are used up in the first 4 years of there life.

  • are the barrels small or are the horses big?

  • @BarrelHorse25 They're draft horses, so they're huge. Think of the horses you see on Budweiser commercials- those are Clydesdales, which are a type of draft.

  • Fantastic!!! Folks with the negative comments --- leave off. Cannot you see that this is for fun?!! Horses are not hurt. I was pleased to see this fun event. Thanks for posting it!!

  • @TheWirdbird I don't know about you, but I don't find it fun to have a bit being dragged back and forth through my mouth like most of them were. Put a bit in your mouth and see how much fun it is to have someone pulling on it. :/ It wold be fun if the riders were more cautious about their hands and how they were moving in the horse's mouth. I think I saw one good rider and horse combo in there..

  • love it! its good to have something for them to do thats just for fun and no pressure, not gonna beat a quarter horse anytime soon, but that isnt the point, wonderful <3

  • feel bad for the first horses mouth :(

  • these horses are hitch horses...they aren't meant to run barrels and most of them aren't used to being ridden. Barrels, poles, keyhole- they are all labeled as "fun" classes for us draft ppl at shows. its fun for us to just go out and do something a little different and the classes are a crowd please...come on, its funny! So as for practicing- most people just go out and do it...we practice driving, those are our classes that count!

  • "That one's slower but it does better turns" Hahaha lol! I love drafties....

  • I have a Haflinger and she is my gammer... even tho we are just getting started she knows her stuff and she loves to run she is like the last lady's horse with little bit of a attitude to her. she is western and im gonna start riding her english so i can jump her.

  • Kudos to the last woman for keeping so calm about her horse's feisty run. XD Even when he was having fun- she was too! The only two I thought were too aggressive was the first man and the girl in the blue. :/ I understand it was all for fun, but c'mon! Not only pulling- but plain yanking! Shame on them for that.

  • the 1st guy is a fucking stupid man

  • I know people who don't lope their drafts because they say if they trip, you're just going to come off. XD I personally, think it would be fun to lope/gallop a draft :P And if they tripped then I would enjoy the fall. XD As long as I didn't get stepped on. o.o lol sorry totally unrelated to the video with the whole trip thing :P

  • @HeartFullOfBuckshot I've galloped a Draft! It wasn't as fast as my little Quarter Horse, because they're so heavy and gumpy, but it was quite a rush because you're so high up and their long legs stretch so far. (:

  • @HeartFullOfBuckshot Two horses I ride are Draft types, A shirex and an Irish draft x Percheron.

I ride english, and I hack and school both. The Shire is very sure footed, and I've cantered/loped him for 2 hours over mud/rocks/hills/ whatever. XD. The ID x Percheron actually has a lot of kick for his size, I've galloped him flat out and it's an experience. I also jump him, which is scary. He wouldn't barrel race, he'd jump them!

I think draft horses are more fun to ride.

  • That is the worst Barrels I have seen! I would have practiced more with all of these horses. Oh my GOD! I feel that If your going to be in the sport you should practice in order to get good times. not bad for the first time but just practice more! While dressage is important it should not be used in a western show. Dressage should be the conditioning of the horse. Stop trying to control the horse and ride!

  • @andrew1105100403357 Uhm obviously draft horses cant move like a normal barrel horse! Although they could have use some more work and better riders.

  • @andrew1105100403357: they're just for fun! Drafts don't run barrels to get a good time, its pure entertainment...haha. No Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale or Shire will ever be going to Las Vegas for the barrel racing nationals, they aren't quarter horses. :)

  • @ilive2iceskate

Well MOST haflingers have speed and can jump. I have more then 5 at my barn and ALL of them can jump and have tons of speed. Im talking about the Cydesdales, percherons, and Friesian breeds. Like the really tall and heavy breeds.

  • @Horsefan900

    Thank you!

  • i guess the fatter you get the bigger horse you have to torture

  • dont dressage ppl constantly have pressure on there horses faces.... and everyone has there own sport that they like and there own opinions so stop complaining bout what other ppl are passionate about. Its your own life not others. go complain somewhere else. the draft barrel race im guessing was just for fun, i didnt see yanking just turning. get it right

  • Comment removed

  • @DustFingerFireDancer

No i havent tried it. But another thing.. i have no intention to no desire. You do realize that your still flopping in your seats and pulling on giving no freedom right? Barrel Racing is not a draft thing. They are more dressage. So lets clear things up. They are NOT barrel racers. NOT jumpers. They ARE dressage and pulling horses. I happen to have one myself. I ride Dressage.

  • @12alilove obviously you ride dressage. If you've never tried the sport don't bash it because you have no right to. So shut you're whining mouth and leave our sport alone. Obviously drafts aren't barrel racers, this was just for fun. That is something all equestrians should try to do: try something new and have FUN with it, but I guess you wouldn't know what that's like.

  • @12alilove although I will agree in this video the riders are definitely not the best.

  • @12alilove XD I have Haflinger Shire mix and he fly's around the barrels are top time is .15 seconds. He also jumps EXTREMLY well he jumped my 360 z once XD

  • draft paint mixes are popular for barrel horses around where i live

  • Everyone should know this, Draft horses are not barrel racers. These horses are having a very hard time. its wrong. What idiot would barrel race a draft? One of the horses almost fell racing! O ya another thing. WHY BARREL RACE AT ALL? All your doing is yanking on their nouth, giving the horse no freedom, and flopping in your seat. What idiots. LEARN SOME RESECT FOR YOUR HORSE!!! seriously.

  • @12alilove realy have you ever tried barrel racing its not what you think i had the same attitude for it a few years ago till i tried it and watch pro racers run there horses without barly touching the bit and now im training my trail horse to race and i barly put any pressure on the reins

  • too much time pulling at reins, not enough spent training.

  • It shouldn't matter what size the horse is their should be weight limits...

  • This is why I can't tolerate barrel racing.

Look at these riders......yanking their horse's mouths, flopping around in their seats, not giving their horses pressure and release.

Now, I know I'm going to get people telling me that not all barrel racers are like this or that this is not what barrel racing should be. But you know what? You could be the lousiest rider on the planet, but as long as you have a good time, you can still win.

    And THAT is bullshit.

  • @ValtronW just stop barrel racing is not bad most horses enjoy it....

  • @ValtronW That's like saying in jumpers as long as you can hang on the horse's neck and not knock a rail you can still win. it's highly unlikely that a lousy rider would get a good time, obviously this was not a serious event.

  • These people need to freaking stop yanking the horses like that if they knew how to use their legs the horses wouldnt be so damn confused. all their doing the whole time is yanking the horses mouth and kiking at the same time

  • @quarterhorselover100: These horse are DRIVING horses...Most of them are NOT riding horses and have no clue what a leg aid is. The yanking, well, see to a draft a giant wagon behind you with clanking chains is perfectly normal *this would eat virtually any other normal horse* but a barrel *those are normal to most horses* barrels EAT draft horses! Its a known fact! But since you are a quarter horse lover, you wouldnt understand that...and that is ok, to each's own.

  • I love how the barrels look so tiny compared to each of them.

  • That 3 rider u should do alot less tugging on the horse. Because if you tug on him hes gonna fight back

  • Hahahahahaha! The horses are like "You want me to do WHAT!?" hahaha I love it!

  • You cannot kick that much while pulling and contorting your horses' face and still expect them to be able to make tight to the barrel turns..

  • That is the most unbalanced animal I have ever seen. Someone needs to train that thing instead of yanking its face around.

  • the first guys really stupid... hes jerking the tar out of his horses mouth

  • I do Barrels with my drafts just for fun :] they can deffinetly do it they just need lots of practice turning hahha :] it's not impossible

  • Wow, the 4th girl is the only one who knows how to ride. Everyone else is just awful.

  • poor horses mouth on the first horse

    dont yank!!

  • what retards... do these people even know how to ride... seriously???!!!

  • @TheCheyrose: no most are AMAZING drivers. This is just a fun class.

  • You should see my draft horse run Barrels she runs 22 seconds on them

  • If people knew a little about horses, they'd know that you can't DIRECT REIN IN A SHANKED BIT LIKE THAT. :(

  • Yet ANOTHER sad excuse for entertainment.. People in the AUDIENCE & other riders NEED to speak up about this kind of thing! I think it was OBVIOUS that the horses did NOT enjoy this.. & the one guy & the girl in the blue shirt needed to be escorted off the property & asked to leave w/out placing. If there were harsh consequences for ppl acting like spoiled little brats jerkin the reins & just bein a bully we might actually see some changes! SPEAK UP & others will too! ONE person CAN make a diff!

  • Does the horse know it needs to stay as close as it can without knocking down the barrels? Hahah

  • um were the barrels like mini barrels to be funny or were the horses just that huge??? and i know that this is not what the horses were made for but if u trot around the barrels and the open them up on the way back i think you could win just cuz 3 strides for them is like 10 strides for the other horses

  • @purplesaddle What fat people can't do stuff you skining people do?

  • o wow i think the one at the end was the bestest 1 :)

  • and the 5th person knows how to end a crap round in style :D

  • wat the hell was the 3rd rider doing!!! : /

  • This is why drafts don't barrel race lol, I feel sorry for some of them really the first one the dumb dude kept jerking on his mouth :,(, I also love the last one it was so pretty!

  • 0:47 fat girl on a big horse LOL

  • Most of them look like draft crosses. Except for the last one, of course. xD Regardless, they are not built for tight turns at high speeds. I wouldn't have tried. Just potentially dangerous for the rider and frustrating for the horse.

  • @ObsidianDeathStone Um, all of them, except one, look like pure Percherons. The English rider with the horse with the big blaze looks like a cross, that is it...

  • @ObsidianDeathStone: to the contrary. There was only one that was a cross, the one with a long tail...the rest were Percherons...with the Black ones being of "Modern" type, meaning they are leggier and tall and the grey being "stock" type, shorter and rounder.

  • I did not like watching the first one... it looked harmfull to the horses mouth. thats my opion.. but good video.

  • @As your name says, stick to your ponies. Is boldgey a word? No horse is too big to do anything. It's like saying a 12 hand pony can't jump. All barrel racing is is running and turning. So are you sayin draft horses can't run or turn because they're too big?

  • @kkpanda13 Right, please leave her alone!!

  • SO ADORABLE :DDDD

  • Are their bits too small? Besides that this is slightly comical and makes me wonder what their times are?

  • i find it ironic that the girl in the english saddle did better in a western event than the western riders did

  • @HoodieLover52 - Yeah, but her horse was smaller ;)

  • Comment removed

  • And people say you cant barrel race in a english saddle the fourth horse and rider just proved you can

  • The first guy can't even stay on a horse, why the heck is he barrel racing?

  • Barrel racers, what is happening with these horses mouths? Are they using the wrong bit?

  • Ouch! Poor pony mouthes.

  • i like the first one. wish the rider didn't yank so much though. :(

  • I LOVE THE 4TH HORSE. :)

  • the gray looks like he is hopping..

  • I have a friend who competes on a gypsy cross and she is slow but is great at barrrels and gymkhana it doesnt matter on breed

  • Zügelziehen ungleich Biegung im Pferd, ihr Deppen =_='

  • u need 2 lay of the pulling but other than that u were good :)

  • there not cut out for this its cute :) ilove the last one

  • there not cut out for this its cute :)

  • ahhh i want a draft so bad! the barrels look sooooo teeny! for flags sticking it would be impossible! xD

  • holy crap that is a awsome horse!!!!!!!!!

  • guys chill. it was just for fun..

  • Umm.....Draft horses were NOT bred for barrels, try working.

  • Bad rider.

  • LOL! Love it! I have a Belgian Draft that I compete in Gymkhana with! Our first year we finished in the top 10. This year we got a first place running barrels! With practice these big horses can make great turns and move pretty quick! Lots of fun!

  • LOL the fat Grey has got some attitude!!

  • that just dont look right.. cool though! haha

  • All of you are idiots for posting on something you know nothing about. Trying to make those big horses run first of all is a feat in itself. Second getting them to turn at a run is almost impossible if they aren't trained for it. This was just a fun class for these DRIVING horses to do. He or she wasn't pulling any harder than anyone else in the class. If you wanna shout cruelty go to a real barrel race and yell at them for spurring, beating, and yanking in their horses mouths! Morons!

  • @downsouthpercherons I know what You mean, all to often in barrel racing horses are beaten going in and coming out.

  • @downsouthpercherons: THANK YOU!

  • idiots. most of these people are jerking on there horses mouth, especially the first one and the third one. the last one was funny XD

  • AW, Lol! The last one was so adorable! XD

  • Wow that first guy is awesome.. not..It doesn't matter the breed of horse if they are trained for riding correctly that can do it without need those wide turns or jerking of the mouth...we contest our two clydes and our one is awesome at it and he even beats a lot of the light horses. i have videos up

  • Whoever is riding the first horse is stupid :( Cool, though

  • @usethe4ce1 The third rider cant ride either :L

  • the guy on the black doesnt know how to train a horse for barrels, but he sure does know how to jerk his horse's mouth :\

  • @MEQCountryKidd yeah no kidding. that's just torture, you're never supposed to yank on their mouths like that.

  • @MEQCountryKidd I dunno about Train...He doesnt even know how to ride lol

  • @MEQCountryKidd I know , when i saw that im like Please fall!
