you are right that the punishment of stoning for adultery (between married people) is not mentioned in the Quran, but the Quran does say to follow what is set by Prophet Muhammad...and what he set is impossible criteria to give a punishment that was almost never enforced (except by those who testified against themselves).
However, it should never override Qur'an. Qur'an clearly states the punishment as lashings or whippings, not stoning. So how does hadith come in and override this?
I just ask any Muslim to please critically analyze this issue. Allah (swt) tells us to bear witness to the truth even if it against our own selves.
If you see the logic in what I am saying I am happy. If not, please explain, maybe it is I who am wrong.
I found the following from yusuf ali commentary (which is in line with Ibn Kathir) on 24:2 (about 100 lashes):
"in the opinion of Muslim jurists, the punishment laid down here applies only to unmarried persons"
Consider (from ibn kathir) 4:15, "until Allah ordains for them some other way", later 24:2 prescribes 100 lashes, AND Prophet Muhammad says (Ahmad 5:317) "Allah has made some other way for them, the married and the unmarried"

Nice video...But there is no verse in Quran suggesting stoning...For prostitutes there is a punishment of Jail or rehabilitation. And with every "Ayat" which contain punishment ends up with "Allah is most merciful..." that's not without any reason.

Brother the mentioning of Stoning can be found in the Authentic Ahadith.

You might want to quickly look at my reply to dooli1981.
How in the world does any hadith override Qur'an? I don't care how 'Authentic' it is. If devil can twist Bible, of course he's going to play with Hadith, no matter how many stamps of 'authenticity' they may have. This is shirk, plain and simple to me. I'm not trying to cause trouble, I'm just so tired of the devil co-opting Islam and Muslims not paying attention.
Allah (swt) put special protection on Qur'an and ONLY Qur'an.

There is something important to say:
1 - to all of you: If you dont know about Islam and its rules than simply shut your mouth! And for the muslims, who do that: According to quran 7|33 one of the greatest sins in our religion is to speak about Allah swt without knowledge. And the one who talks about the quran without knowledge, is as he spoke about Allah without knowledge. So be aware of that!

2 - you may be right in saying that the Quran is our primary source, and the QURAN ITSELF instructs us to obey Allah AND his Messenger as metioned in many many ayat.
@quantumsolutions: And in this very book [3:164 ]Allahs sais that he send us a messenger who would teach us the scripture (quran) AND the wisdom, which is known to be the ahadith!
Also see quran 33|36 & 4|65 & 4|115, which are the clearest ayat concerning this topic. May Allah guide the open hearted!

" in the case of adultery you might add that if a woman swears 4 times that she has not betrayed, that outweighs the 4 swearings by the husband who claims she has". Do you have the Hadith reference for this, as some1 has left a comment on another video mentioning the unfairness 2 women victims of rape, and it would be nice to state this Hadith is response. JazakAllah khayran.

i am not really sure about the wife and husband swearing 4 times, because that seems to contradict the requirement of 4 witnesses.
However, regarding rape, as with any every crime, 4 witnesses are not needed what-so-ever. In Islam you don't need 4 witness about a crime against you...insha Allah, we will cover this issue soon

It seems that Muslims are more focused on Hadith than Qur'an. It is very upsetting!
I'm not attacking you but I'm starting to FREAK out a bit by this. This whole stoning issue is Hadith overriding Qur'an and this is UNACCEPTABLE!!
May we purify our deen.
Anyway, about the wife swearing 4 times, see Surah 24 verses 06-09.
BTW, just above that is the punishment for fornicators and there is no mention of stoning so why does hadith come in and create a new rule? This is madness to me.

But, hadeeth are very important in Islam...without them, we would not know how to pray (it is not written in the Quran).
you are right that the punishment of stoning for adultery (between married people) is not mentioned in the Quran, but the Quran does say to follow what is set by Prophet Muhammad...and what he set is impossible criteria to give a punishment that was almost never enforced (except by those who testified against themselves).

I agree Hadith can be important.
However, it should never override Qur'an. Qur'an clearly states the punishment as lashings or whippings, not stoning. So how does hadith come in and override this?
I just ask any Muslim to please critically analyze this issue. Allah (swt) tells us to bear witness to the truth even if it against our own selves.
If you see the logic in what I am saying I am happy. If not, please explain, maybe it is I who am wrong.

I found the following from yusuf ali commentary (which is in line with Ibn Kathir) on 24:2 (about 100 lashes):
"in the opinion of Muslim jurists, the punishment laid down here applies only to unmarried persons"
Consider (from ibn kathir) 4:15, "until Allah ordains for them some other way", later 24:2 prescribes 100 lashes, AND Prophet Muhammad says (Ahmad 5:317) "Allah has made some other way for them, the married and the unmarried"
but remember the evidence required is impossible to achieve
